Anyone else seeing this happen? I get a black screen with white lines (similar to GSOD, only black and white).

First time I hear about this. Can you give more information (when did it happen for example).

I've had it happening while playing Zombie Driver and SC2. Furmark also gives strange errors, and all 3 will eventually hard lock the computer.

Strange. I've had GSOD before but I didn't experience these kind of things with the new vBIOS.

Looks like artifacting. I would get that when I tried to run at clock/mem speeds that were too low for my GPU to pull off (only much worse). What speeds are you running at? What vBIOS did you use? Gary's official or another?

Gary's official, as flashed by ASUS, running at stock clocks.

"as flashed by Asus"? Are you sure they used the latest vBIOS?

check to make sure you have 012.020.000.032.038352

Those glitches remind me when the card is thinking of a GSOD.

What you described sounds exactly like the artifacting i was always getting before GSODs...

It does GSOD after awhile, the video shows it. I'd test it, but I've already sent it to the reseller (who is going to send it to asus). As for temps, it would start doing this at 95, and furmark would get it to 100 (as would SC2).

Perhaps. In any case, it's at the markham, ON repair facility by now (along with my starcraft 2 DVD I forgot to remove... *siiigh*) and they'll "fix" it however they see fit.

You already sent it back? Did you at least try flashing the new bios once beforehand? Couldn't hurt it any.

Pretty sure the thread title already states this was after the vBios update. :)

I have yet to see DCx post anything about Personally flashing the vBios himself. From what I have read he believes ASUS flashed it for him.

Maybe they have, but a Reflash could not hurt to see if things really are as they appear...

Correct. Asus flashed it, and because powerplay was functional, downclocking to 405 and up to 700 under load, and because they claim on the paperwork that it's been updated to the latest vbios, and because I got it yesterday, I assume it was the latest vbios.

So yes, you're right, I didn't *personally* do it, but if the asus paperwork is to be trusted, then they did. And if I can't trust asus to tell the truth on their paperwork, then it doesn't matter what I do.

@Bumbleboner: Yes, the title of the thread is correct. After a vbios update.

@IM0001: Unless the stock vbios powerplay works *exactly* the same as the latest beta vbios (which it doesn't), then it was updated. Also, as previously stated, Asus paperwork specifically says "vbios updated to latest version" and is dated Sept. 7th. So calm down. Maybe asus techs didn't have the latest, latest vbios? And yeah, a reflash would have removed all doubt. But why be such a hater?

Yeah, except for bricking it. And the sooner I send it back, the sooner they replace (hopefully) the GPU. I could ask you: Why bother procrastinating? If it needs to be replaced, why not send it in asap?

I am not questioning your IT skill/experiance or a Hater. But to believe ASUS would flash a still BETA vBios onto a system is still hard for me to take in, unless you went through Gary himself. All I was hoping for like a few other users here was a Confirmation on the Bios Number (Which a quick GPU-Z would have given us) or a reflash at your own hand to make sure it was the Truly "New" vBios and not just the "Latest" bios ASUS has for the G73.

Apparently if the powerplay stuff is true (No experiance with it yet and still lurking past post) then it is the latest vBios.

Either way its a bummer things can't have worked out for you this time.

Now just trying to work through the day to get my hands on my A1 when I get home... Common 5PM!!!

Which is why I wanted you to tell me what version you had installed. The 1st beta had Powerplay similar to the latest one, so it did 405/1000 as well. The 2nd beta had a newer BIOS version number. A simple glance at GPU-Z would have told me everything. :p ProTip: Ask your local beta tester before rushing to a RMA, silly.

You'd be suprised what the ASUS techs are capable of. I would have sent it back especially since he didn't have gsod's with his first card and now he has one that does.

    You are correct, Ma'am :p

Seriously, your work with the vbios has been much appreciated. I wasn't aware the first vbios had the same clocks as the rock-solid fixed one. As for rushing to RMA, well ... I've been having issues since august, and my first class (teaching, not as a student) is friday - I'll have to make do with my netbook, but it doesn't have the oomph that I really need.
