    Hey guys,

I searched the forum, couldn't see any results.
The Freeagent Goflex 1.5TB drive is a 2.5", 14mm thick, 4-platter hard drive. Spins at 5400RPM or so. Some people have taken the drive out of the enclosure and put it in their laptops.

Can I put this drive in the deep slot of my Asus G50V(T)? It looks like it would probably fit and allow the bottom cover to close.

14mm might not fit. The G50 can handle 12.5mm no problem.

    A little update,

I found an old 4GB Fujitsu MHC2040AT 2.5" 12.5mm thick IDE drive, plopped it in my thick drive bay and it of course is deep enough for the old drive, but NOT thick enough for anything over 13mm imo. So no the goflex most likely will not fit (95% sure).

The problem is that you only have the distance between the SATA header and the 'bottom' (looking from underside of lappy) of the bay for the drive thickness. So after that, the drive thickness can't be anymore unless you make a hole in the laptop to the right of the touchpad!
