This is what worries me.. that im going to send my laptop in and just get an exact same model but different.

Because they are going to wipe it.

Has anyone else sent theirs in and got the exact same laptop you sent in back?

Raptor5150, I have had to RMA my G75 twice. The first time the only rolled back my Audio Driver, the 2nd RMA they replaced my MB, KB and Track Pad and cables. I knew I was having serious problems fortunately I keep good back ups and images as they did restore me back to factory condition almost they actually set me back MBR instead of GPT, Which since I have good images stored was not a problem for me. I actually ended up Clean Installing it back to W 7 HP. Its the luck of the draw depending what the root cause of your issues were. If you requested them not to they won't unless there is no other way. That has been my experience

Typically they will repair it because it makes economic sense to rather than replacing the whole thing.

Asus does not swap out Notebooks when sent for repair, They will reset you to factory shipped condition if you don't request for them not to do this. They do this because it makes it easier for them to trouble shoot, eliminating any software issues

Yep and they can be the worst to troubleshoot and it's not usually their fault.
