    Hi y'all,

I had a post in the official forum as well but I figured I'd ask here since I'm perhaps much more likely to get a wider opinion over here

Actually, I've been looking at a number of resellers in USA for the A1 model but none of them ship internationally - let alone Thailand (understandably I suppose)

Therefore, I was wondering if someone could kindly suggest me the cheapest and most suitable method to get one of those models here (I prefer A1 but I can live with A2 as well though)

Also, I'm not too sure how I would actually get the laptop to say, USPS, FedEx, etc (assuming I ship through them) so I was hoping I could gather some information regarding that from the resellers too (GenTech, PowerNoteBooks, PortableOne, etc - they are all great and I'm open to business with all of them ^^)

Finally, I was also hoping to gather some info. regarding the custom duty that I may have to pay to import the laptop in Thailand...that's why I was wondering if anyone has any previous experience with shipping a laptop here and had to pay the custom charges - if any

Thanks again for all your help guys! God knows what I would've done if I hadn't caught up with this forum hehe

    Cheers!

for international usps is going to be somewhere around $100 i'm guessing. i've shipped smaller heavy boxes to se asia and they were around $50, including one with a dell mini inside. if you don't have a hookup just use usps and yes, my friend did have to pay duty taxes.

HAve you tried dennedusa, I bought my g73 from their online store, they ship internationally and they accept international credit cards, I was going to ask them to chip the laptop to Mexico, but I decided it was better if a friend brought it to me, to avoid taxes and problems...Saved between $500-$600.

    XoticPC ships internationally...

AFAIK, with standard USPS shipping, you won't get anything below $150 to Asia. I tried getting a quote for a Sager NP8760 to be shipped to Australia, and the shipping would have been about $300. Then you have to factor in import charges and tax, etc.

I have been living in Phuket for 8 months now and I got my g73 from Singapore, even combined it with a visarun. Simply ordered it from this webshop Home and went to pick it up a week later.

    Good luck!

edit: dont take the risk of have it shipped to Thailand. You could be taxed some ridiculous amount up to 60%

@o4584 hmm thanks for that info...looks like I'm better off ordering the laptop in Singapore rather than having it shipped here...such a shame, I won't be traveling to Singapore for atleast another month (for my graduate studies - which is what I was hoping to get the laptop for)

    cheers for the help everyone!

well from what I saw, I couldn't find them...then again, its not like ASUS has a lot of branches here that I can go and look at...but yeah, I really doubt the laptop has already showed up here yet

You should check the local customs procedures first before ordering the unit. Some countries allows tax exemption for students & foreigners. I'm in Malaysia and we have tax exemption for all notebooks and computers. I've ordered my unit from Gentech and Ken Lee did a great job assisting me. My unit should arrive by today and the shipping cost is USD 149 to Malaysia.
