I have a G73hj and I´m having trouble with my computer. I´m running bios 211 and gary´s vBios.

I have several problems with my computer.

    1) when I run furmark my temp goes to 103-104 before the computer shuts down.

    2) when I play Mafia II or Deadrising 2 my computer will lock itself up every 10 or 15 minutes, flash a single color shut down the display drivers and let me play for another 10 or so minutes.

    3) when I try to play company of heroes with ultrahigh shading it wont even start and auto close the programs.

So I was wondering should I RMA? The thing is I live in Guatemala, but purchased my computer in the USA, specifically CompUSA. So I have to send it to the US facility for it to get fixed. This is something I´m willing to do, but I´m afraid that they will not fix it and its the first time I´ll ever RMA something. Or is there something I´ve not tried that might fix this problem.

So what is the procedure? Do I send the laptop with all my personal info or do I return to factory settings. How do I get a RMA number and do I send with my steam since this games require it to run.

Yes I´m getting desperate, bought this computer for the sole purpose of gaming and thats the one thing that it can´t do. Don´t blame Asus but I´ll be damned if I ever buy something with an ATI card. BTW, does anybody know if the G73 hw has any problems?

    Thanks. :D

I've RMA'd 3 times now. It's really quite simple, although each time I've gotten stuck with incompetent techs. Hopefully you'll fare better than me.

    Call this number: 888-678-3688

Tell them your problems and request an RMA. They will email you everything else necessary. At least, this is how it works in Canada and the US.

Sounds like you have a bad GPU or your overheating while playing those games and it is downclocking to save itself.

Dont know whats wrong with company of heroes as I dont have the game.

    What drivers are you using?

try doing a clean drivers installation or even a win7 fresh install. For me it sounds you have a defective vga. But you still can run games, meaning the hardware works (sort of). Do some troubleshooting, problems sometimes came with BIOS changes (for any hardware). If not, just RMA your unit.

You need a repaste above all else. Next question: did you pirate the games you mentioned? If you did, its entirely possible they just plain don't work properly. Not trying to start a piracy debate here, either.

Yeah. GENERALLY speaking, asus does an amazing job with repairs. Sometimes though, you get stuck with a pipe wielding monkey.

Great, so I'll just call the asus number and get an RMA number. Guess I tried everything and the GPU is just defective.

    thanks guys !

You could repaste yourself if you feel competent enough to.
