MicroCenter sells the X5 version, if there is one by you.

PSOD is a rare issue, or are you referring to GSOD?

That's a PSOD. ;) It's a rare issue, and possibly suggested to be caused by misset screens, or perhaps by the 1.15v setting used by Asus. (dunno myself as I don't have it) If a unit has this issue, you'll know quickly.

That unit isn't in the stores, online only. Here's a link for a good model config you can buy in a store.

The G73JH-RBB05 is much cheaper at $1199.000 at Best Buy.
but it has a lower res screen smaller hard drive and the factory warranty isn't as good.
It's a tough choice of price versus performance.

As for Micro Center, you can visit their website and search for a store location in your area

the difference between an X5 and A1 is a 640G HDD vs 2x 500G HDDs. Both have 1080p screens and blu-ray optical. If you plan to add a SSD, the X5 may be a better option. (Plus it's cheaper) Note the X5 will have a different warranty.

I think he means factory (BB) warranty compared to asus warranty. Also the duration of it. There's also the additional accidental warranty which I'm not sure it will come with BB.

No, it doesn't include the Asus 360 warranty plan, it has best buy's lame 1 year parts 1 year labor plan. Best buy has all their other plans that you can purchase though.

go to Gentech or Powernotebooks they are online resellers. You will pay a few hundred more now, but it will be well worth it presently, and in the future as the specs are far superior and the longevity of the laptop will save you money in the long run. Plus your getting a better product with the 1 year Accidental Damage(if your in North America), and the 2 year Global Warranty. Warranties like that are hard to come by on electronics, I put an estimate worth of $300 at least, and BestBuy strips the G73 from it's warranty.

Powernotebooks is located in US and I believe GenTech is as well. They include the Asus 360 Warranty in the product, and that has global warranty!
