I know it's a praised laptop, and I realize people mostly post on these forums when they have a problem, so reading these forums isn't an accurate statistic of all Asus G73 machines.

Nevertheless, I'm wondering if I will have problems when I get it? I don't really plan to go with what it comes stock. I don't want the bloatware or anything extra I'm not going to use, so I'd like to clean install W7 on it. However, I'm reading up on the posts here a lot and it seems there are a lot of driver issues and some bios issues. Generally, things that I would update, but it seems I shouldn't? Hearing about PSOD, GSODs, YSODS, yomammaSODS, etc. So I'm wondering should I clean install or not?

In addition, i'm hearing problems like when running WC3 (and since it won't run at 1920x1080 unless you mess with the registry) at the normal resolution, it messes up?

I'm also worried that it will be fine for a while but then it's going to mess up on me from what I've read in these forums... so eh...

I've had no issues with a clean install on my SSD. With any system you get you can run into problems. If your OK with the Asus support method then go for it. If not look elsewhere.

So what drivers did you install?

ATI 10.3 or 10.4? Updated BIOS? Creative sound drivers or ?

I had no problems with the G73 so far.
I have the 10.4 installed, no problems.
There is 10.6 out but they are alpha or beta ones not sure, Id stick with the 10.4 since I had no issues.
