Hi guys,
I lived in australia and i am wondering that should i order a refurb asus g73jh i7 with price $A 1579? Is this a good deal?
I really need ur opinion since i just refund an alienware m11x since it not as good as it should be
Thanks

Don't know about the prices in Australia (I'm in the UK), but if I were you I'd first have a look at the prices of new machines and if the refurbished one is considerably cheaper then I'd go for it.
Do you get any warranty with it? If you do then right after you buy it install the latest drivers from ATI and play a couple of games to see if you get any BSODs or GSODs. If you do then install the new vbios and check again.
Also, download ATI GPU tool and have a look at GPU temperatures. If you get 60 or less when idle and no more than 90 while gaming then you're good.
If the temperatures are much higher, and if you keep getting BSODs / GSODs after updating vbios then return it.
Alternatively, have a look at Australian auction sites and see if you can get a cheaper second-hand G73. If you can, then contact the owner and ask them about BSODs, GSODs and GPU temperatures.
Personally, I buy second-hand stuff quite often and never had any technical problems whatsoever. -
Thanks a lot Clyde
This one got 3 year warranty
the brand new price of. G73 jh in aus is around 2400$A , a lot more lol
I think i will give it a try -
Go for it - or have a look on ebay or some other auction site.
-
that price looks great to me, plus the 3 year warranty on a refurb, can't beat that. i say nab it.
-
get it as long as there is the warranty.. great deal.
-
YES! Most of the refurbs right now will probably have GSOD problems ... easily fixed with the vbios update!
-
Thank guys.
I just ordered it . Cant wait until it arrived :d -
From logicalblueone.com.au, right? Damn, too bad the screen is only 600x900 otherwise I'd snap that one up myself!!
-
1600x900 screen is not a problem for me since it can gain better fps while playing games( i read this in other threads in this forum)

g73 refurbs are all from bestbuy. the defect rate on them is about 10%. vast majority of them were returns to bestbuy for soft defects. out of the last 100+ units we have handled i have not found a single one that was actually serviced by asus even though a good bit of them are actually defective. most of them were returned to bestbuy because asus outsourced tech support is incapable to help customers with soft issues. one example is avg antivirus. install avg and you will experience tons of issues. countless g73 were returned because of this and other soft issues. i am not recommending refurbs in general unless you know the history of them. here is some history on this particular refurb and i hope it helps

If you can afford it the best route is buying through one of the reputable online or local ASUS resellers who are also ASUS authorized service centers. They can make mods at the point of purchase and will service modded equipment without issue under warranty. You will ultimately get better, more reliable service, additional features or specs but at a cost of $400-$500 additional $$.
Cheers,

Hope this helped you from embarrasing your self in front of professionals i sure am glad. -
Call any of their tech support lines, you'll find out which of you is right. One of you is.

as long as you get a G73 my friend, refurb or new, youre all set to mega super power!!!

The correct pronunciation is a sneeze sound...
"AH ZOOS!"
The name does come from the last part of Pegasus though, that's why when they split off the manufacturing side they called it Pegatron. -
You're kidding, right? That's certainly not how the people who work there pronounce it...but they could be wrong... -
