Noticed that when i was going to add more ram into my computer.

That's just your thermal pad for your video memory, nothing to worry about.
-
1 Thing though, i predict my laptop is one of those that has a poorly done paste job and I have those high idle temps.

Whether or not to repaste your GPU is a matter of personal preference, imo. There are thermal protection features in place so the temperature over a short period of time won't kill your laptop. However, I know that high temps over long periods of time can cause electro migration, and shorten the lifespan of your chip. I'm in the process of repasting now, just waiting for FedEx to drop off my paste. However, I'm confident in my ability to take a laptop apart and get it back together in working order. If you're hesitant, then maybe you should have someone else do it, or you could just deal with the high temps. I'm not in a position to make a strong recommendation on what to do, that's really up to you. But if the temps bother you a lot, or if your machine shuts off due from an overheat, then by all means have the paste redone.
I will say this, the manufacturer paste job was bad in my case. The paste itself had dried to a crumbly consistency and there were two large air pockets inhibiting heat transfer. -
I dont mind the temps but i have my computer on for 8+ hours a day at 80F ambient. Im sure soon enough my chip will die :/ but the only time i have a GSOD is when i play high demanding games without my laptop cooler.
EDIT: Only had it for about a month now -
Downclock your gpu when you are not playing games. That will keep your gpu temperature lower during most of that 8+ hours each day. I would do a repaste as a last resort. So before i do that i would have gotten notebook coolers and all that first. For me personally, its not worth the risk since i don't play games much. And even when i do play games, my temperature is around 94. I don't believe in running furmark just to prove my temperatures.

Thats normal, those pads have to be squished a bit so contact is optimal. Every laptop basically looks like that. If your temperatures are fine (under 95C max with a long furmark run) and if you dont know what youre doing id leave it alone...
Should this happen? (Asus G73)
