Hi everybody. I'm new here. I have some questions about installing Skyrim on my G 73 JH. My issue may not even be related to installing Skyrim, so I wanted to ask for some feedback.

What's going on is, my laptop freezes after about two minutes from reboot. When I run the Steam application, my pc ALWAYS locks up when the Steam Update is at 99%!

I've already registered the game key on Steam, and frankly, I'd like to just install the game from the disc.

I should also note that I've updated all my drivers. Sorry if this is vague. I'm a noob, and I'm confused. My laptop never used to freeze on me.

My graphics card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870. I'd greatly appreciate help getting this freeze fixed, because I can't wait to play Skyrim!

    Thanks.

Sounds like a Realtek problem. Have you looked into the Realtek / sound driver threads? Uninstalling / updating these fixed the Steam lock-ups for me.
