    Hey all,

I write for a living and sometimes when typing on the G73 keyboard, I hit some friggin' button that suddenly brings up a window to convert all your text to some kind of Asian writing/characters. And you pick a number for which language you want and it converts it. And no matter what I do, I can't back out of it or reverse it. Not even ctrl Z works.

What am I pressing that is causing this and when I do accidentally hit it, how do I turn it off?

Thanks. I'm going to go sit in the dunce corner now.

Take a time out and consider what Mr. BadMofo Samuel L. Jackson said on SNL the only way Samuel L. Jackson can -

"You need to take a computer class."

I don't have a fix for you but I just wanted to post in support. I've been banging on keyboards for more than twenty five years (I am a programmer not a writer) and I have never seen this feature of which you speak. It has got to be some program you have installed because it is definitely not something factory installed on the G73. I don't think it is a Microsoft Office thing either because I've never seen it.

What I think it is, is some hot key thing that Asus had programmed in so that their non english speaking tech's could work on machine's. There seems to be a setting somewhere I can't remember where you can change everything to Mandarin for the same reason.

To clarify, I think it's some Asus thing for their non english speaking techs. As soon as I stumble across it again, I'll try to take a screenshot.

Also, I'm realizing right now, that according to memory, this has only happened while online. So maybe it's some hot-key function I'm hitting? I use Mozilla/Firefox for browsing and Google for search. I don't think so though as it's never happened on my desktop nor my Alienware M11x.

So any ideas is much appreciated. Thanks for the bump!

I have nothing to contribute in regards to a solution, but I can confirm this problem as well. Had it happen to me once, and it was mind numbingly frustrating, as I didn't know how I induced the effect.

You are probably hitting Alt-Shift. That was the case with me as they had both the English keyboard and the Chinese keyboards setup in windows on my machine. It can be fixed through Languages in the control panel.
