To be fair, temps have dropped. And I have no idea what thermal paste they used so if there's still a curing time needed or whatever.
But my ambient temps have dropped a few degrees and are running 64c.
In playing BFBCII Temps have dropped 5-8 degrees as well now to and hover around 91 at a full load.
SCII hits 95c still after awhile. Though if I prop the notebook up from the back so air gets in underneath, the temps hover around 88-90.
Admittedly, I never ran furmark before so I don't have a fair frame of reference to compare to. But when I did after the repaste, my temps shot up to 105 pretty fast, and ran for 10-15 minutes with no problems before I got too nervous about the temps and stopped the test myself. This is what has me convinced to take it back, though I've said often, I believe benchmarking programs are a hustle, so I'm a little torn.
I'm definitely frustrated. I keep wishing that there's some curing time I'm not aware of as I dropped the unit off on a Tues., they said they'd have to get the parts from Fremont, CA. (I'm in Los Angeles) being new fans, etc.
I picked it up on Friday and ever since, I'm not seeing much of an improvement.
Worse, the keyboard came back all loose and mushy with a spacebar randomly not registering. But knowing there was double sided tape on the other side, I firmly but gently pushed down hard on the keyboard and this seems to have fixed the problem.
I'm going to call them tomorrow see if I can find out what kind of thermal paste they used.
The place is California Computer Center in Los Angeles. If anyone knows anything about them that I should be aware about, it's much appreciated.
I'm leaning towards taking it back, although I'm dreading the hassle. But I'm kidding myself if I expect these temps to somehow get better through more curing time, correct?
If/when I do take it back, I already ordered some IC-7 Diamond and have another RMA lined up, and plan on taking it down there with the G73 and having them redo it with that. They're a huge warehouse PC OEM builder so I imagine someone there has got to be able to do it right. Right?
Jeez, what a drag.
Thanks for any input.
Cheers

The RMA/Repair guy is Robert. He's a cool guy.
That's what I'm planning on doing. Taking it back with some IC-7 and have them do it over.
Being able to drive it to an ASP and pick it up is way more convenient than shipping it back to Fremont or Indiana and have it be M.I.A for 3 weeks or longer, that it's worth it to me to go back there and have them try again.
So I pick up my G73 from an ASP for an RMA'd Repaste. I'm still getting 95c in SCII. Take it back right?
