    guys,

    1. was having some problems with my g73 and here's just a post that may help newbs and people searching on google to get to the heart of the problem straight up.

    Random Lock Ups
I was seemingly getting random lockups and freezes, but again there is a pattern here if your paying attention - it's all related to sound events (whether you get to hear them or not)

If your notebook is just freezing in windows it's creative's fault. A simple test that broke my notebook every time, install firefox, install the best add-on of all time, Download Them All. Now go to website with downloadable content and rightclick the content, rightclick it and use download them all to grab it. As soon as it completes download-them-all is supposed to play a small chime, but if you've done it, your pc is frozen by now.

Go to Control Panel and uninstall anything published by Creative. Then visit the Realtek website here: Link Me to Realtek and download the latest Realtek HD Audio drivers and control panel.

    FN + ESC
The infamous FN + ESC lockup. AFAIK the only resolution to this is to update your BIOS to version 209 from the Asus website. If you do this there is a more than even chance that your keyboard backlights will stop working. It has been confirmed on other threads that the lights are not physically broken or burned out, it's just a bios control issue. If you can live without the 209 update i would do without it (my lights died). I would sincerely hope that Asus correct the issue in the next BIOS update.

    Broken Keyboard Lights
As above, don't sweat it. You've obviosuly upgraded to 209 BIOS. The lights are not physically broken, just patiently wait for Asus to deploy a new patch.

    Speakers Crackle
I was getting some speaker crackle that was corrected on the uninstall of the creative garbage and replacement with the Realtek audio panel (which does give you full EQ control). If this does not correct your issue i would assume a physical fault and RMA.

    2. Hope this helps. Happy Fragging

I installed all the creative stuff (2 in total) and installed the latest Realtek HD driver (v248).

But I cant find the Realtek controls anywhere, to control the the bass and equalisation.

When you install the Creative addon, the Realtek config pages are disabled. Use the Creative app to make those adjustments.

Yes, but post 1 says to uninstall. Mine was locking up this afternoon when watching a Youtube video, I used the function keys to adjust volume which may or may not have been the cause of the lock ups.
