Okay, after noticing high hard drive activity on my laptop immediately after several clean installs of windows (i.e it was extremely slow to boot up to the desktop), I decided to just leave my laptop on for about 20 hrs without touching it and everything seemed normal, I installed all my games and tried playing them all of them worked out fine until I opened my GTA IV then I had the forever loading screen problem. As this was happening I noticed something that happened when my laptop was extremely slow after the several clean installs (I did several installs thinking it would fix the problem), the blue cylinder icon representing the hard drive activity turns solid stable blue instead of the normal flashing blue light. This happens to me when I open specific programs like GTA IV, my anti-virus and Microsoft Math(which just started recently after doing a CCleaner registry scan and fixing).

Please I really need help with this annoying problem please any ideas?
I have tried several stuff but I wanna hear other people's opinion on how to fix it first.

    Thanks in advance.

Mod Edit: Title has been modified, please do not bypass the language filter.

Another messed up stuff happened 30 mins after I created this thread. My laptop screen broke(i.e. screen ink spill inside). What should I do? :(

You aren't being really specific when you say your screen "broke."

As for the HDD light, that's just showing you the activity. If it's on solid for a few, that just means it's retrieving or writing data a good amount. Opening hefty programs, scanning for something, transferring files... Those are all things that require more time for the hard drive to do its magic.

But really, you haven't given much, if any, information on either of your problems.

Yes I know they require time but my laptop wasn't acting like this before the clean install of windows. Nothing ever took hours to open or never open at all (even when the are seen in the task manager processes list).

Is your screen still like this? can you take a picture and attach it onto this thread so we can see? sounds like something has gone and most likely your screen but without seeing its hard to tell.

My HDD was acting up before a factory reset for me although resetting fixed it to some extent. GTA IV is very intensive on the CPU/HDD.

if your laptop screen has an ink looking bleed then your screen is likely cracked. Turn off the computer and then closelly inspect the area with a flash light and if you can see any scracks in the LCD then you need a new screen.

A screen shot will not show LCD damage, take a picture and put it on here.

Here is the pic the laptop dropped when my leg got tangled with charger and somehow the screen got cracked.

I wasn't having any problem like this with GTA IV before the factory reset. And again I do not think microsoft math is as intensive on the CPU/HDD as the GTA IV and still the have the exact effect on my HDD

Sadly fella GTA is the least of your problems at the moment looking at your screen :( although you should be able to use an external display. I dont know what the warranty procedure is on it if it is still within warranty.

Your only bonus is if its the 1600x900 version that the A1 has you can buy a new 1080P screen there are some cheap ones on ebay.

    The A1 never came with a 900p screen. :p

o rly? The G73JH-A1 and G73JW-A1 both ship with the Hannstar 1080p panel. The SW-A1 also has a 1080p panel. If you got a 900p panel, and it was new, and not refurbed/used, then you should contact Asus Support and have them swap out your panel.

Make sure the underside sticker says "-A1"

So what do you guys recommend? Buy 1080p screen from ebay and put it in myself(would it void warranty open it?) or contact asus support (which I did already but they haven't responded) and wait for about 2-3 weeks to get it back. Just to note I'm in college and really need to fix this as soon as possible.

Also is there like a official repair center I can go to that is recognized by Asus because I don't want to void warranty opening it myself. I purchased my laptop around July last year.

I would assume if you are under warranty and as its accidental that they may not cover it but you could just say you turned it on and found it like it or make up a story that makes it look like a hardware defect its worth a shot if its within warranty as then it wont cost you a penny.
