    Is anyone else experiencing squeaky keyboard keys? I just noticed it over the past couple of days. About 5-6 of them seem to squeak when I hit them. :confused:

    It's not a big issue right now, but I am wondering if this is an indication of trouble down the road with the keyboard and its reliability. I've never had a chicklet style keyboard before and the more I use it, the less impressed I am.

    Yes, I've had squeaky keys on all of my backlit ASUS keyboards, from the G51 to the G73 to the U20A. Some of them go away with time, but the worst offender (space bar) seems to be pretty consistent with the chirping. It's not so much a problem as just a characteristic of the plastic used, apparently. Some people have taken the keys off and put them back on and had luck with that, but I can't recommend it as the tabs are a bit fragile. It's nothing to worry about, but it can be annoying.

    hey what happened to you ... you don't sound convincing
    last time you've explained very good how to fix this problem but now you don't recommend it ?

    @ryan.c i had a squeky space too
    i've ripped it off ...put some oil on the metal and between the holes that hold the metal and no more squeaking space :)

    I never noticed the squeekiness of the keys. Perhaps it's hit and miss :p

    I too had the squeaks in my space bar. I did what mite_jan did. Took it off (not super fragile), sprayed some WD-40 on a small piece of ripped paper (triangle shaped) and let a small drop under the metal rod contact areas on the spacebar. No more squeaky - it's been about 7 months now.

    Mine squeaked for awhile. Not anymore. I assume usage has done them in...
