Hi. I was looking through different threads to resolve the static issue.

So far, I have in order:
    - Uninstalled Creative software
    - Updated Realtek drivers
    - Tweaked sound settings

So far the static problem seems to be gone (i've only been using my speakers for 20 minutes now). I recently read this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...3701-unboxing-your-g73-short-setup-guide.html where I found which sound settings to tweak.

It said that I did not have to uninstall/update any drivers. Now that I have uninstalled Creative, I am not sure if I am getting the full performance of my speakers. Can someone show me where I can reinstall them?

    Thank you.

Well I've also done the bios update since this post. I am running into the static noise again (still don't have Creative installed) and it's bugging me. I really don't want to resort to RMA but is that my only other option?

I would. I don't have this issue at all. You would need a new mobo. Maybe something like the jack port isn't 100% proper.

Mine generates the static noise occasionally. I think it's heat related. In my case it only happens after a long gaming session. I'm going to repaste my GPU this week and hopefully that problem will be long gone.

It generally happens to me as the GPU cools down, but sometimes it starts blaring randomly.

Uninstalling the Realtek driver, letting Windows install the generic driver, and disabling the second "Speakers" device in the playback devices menu got rid of the noise for me. But there are some side effects (weak volume, inability to fully mute the sound, etc.
