Really quick post here, just booted up my G73 and at the login screen I heard about 30 seconds of what sounded like white noise coming from my top-left speaker, and off and on for a minute after login, nothing now.
Any idea what that was? Never heard it before.

Maybe you can try to reinstall the driver? I haven't done a clean install but I don't have that sound.

I think having newer realtek drivers fixes it. I used to do a work around to solve the static issue but with newer drivers it has never returned.

It's like those times when you're at login screen and half of the screen is black while the other half have messed up colors for 2-5 seconds, every once in a while.

Some think its software and some hardware related another wonderful mystery of the JH model along with the hidden ant that runs around your touchpad every once in a while causing mayhem :p

Mine was always temperature related whenever I had Creative drivers installed and did a Furmark and stress test as the temps came down from the 90's it would squeal for 10 seconds and then stop. Since a repaste I dont go near the 90's and so mine has stopped strangely enough. Sounds hardware/software related but its another thing that makes our laptop unique :D

I had this problem and I had to RMA. They replaced a lot of things in my laptop so I don't know which one fixed it. They replaced the motherboard and the "audio board". I believe there is a small addon board inside our laptops and I'm pretty sure that's what causes this. They also replaced my speaker assembly too.

Anyway, I've never had static again since I got it back.
