    So yesterday I picked up a new(well, it didnt have the box, but aside from that it had not even been turned on yet) G53JW-XN1 for $700 on Craigslist. Before buying, I phoned Asus to ensure that the warranty was still intact, and it is until December of this year. For that price, I couldn't pass it up. I have been looking for a decent, relatively inexpensive gaming laptop for some time now, but I kind of want something smaller. Do you guys think the size issue will subside? I have no problems carrying it around, but I came from an M11x.

    Don't get me wrong, this thing is a beast and QUIET! I was kind of toying with the idea of reselling it for ~$1000 and picking up a 3820TG or something like that. I dont really need the gaming power of the G53 on the go and I have a very capable gaming desktop at home. I know the performance of a smaller notebook will not be on par, but away from home I usually play CS:S, Guild Wars, TF2, L4D/2 and games like that.


    What do you guys think?

    Id say keep it, for the price, the power of the laptop and that it is pretty much just a more portable g73

    You got a great deal, I got my G73 for $750 but I had to RMA it. Get a nice case or backpack and you'll love it. Sure it isn't as small as a M11 but it's at least 2x as powerful. If you don't like it a in a few months, you can sell it for more and get an M11x for the same amount. Just test it real good to be sure it isn't defective. Asus will honor the warranty or at least they did for me.

    Yeah, I modified my Lenovo case to fit the laptop, which actually fits it perfectly. Using it today, I am realizing how nice it is to have a Full HD screen, especially for web browsing and excel work. It doesn't hurt that this thing runs Bad Company 2 like no other laptop I've used. I guess the size isnt THAT bad. I think I'll give it a couple weeks and go from there.

    id keep it, you got a great deal and while its not as portable as an m11x the extra power makes it worth it if you decide to play somthing a bit more demanding
