I created already 2-3 months ago a thread about this issue http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/655858-gpu-driver-you-using-g73jh.html

The problem is that I can't run any newer driver on my notebook (ATI 5870M installed) than version 11.10, I tested the latest version (12.4) now and get again the random bluescreen issue as described in the thread above (It includes also the Windows kerneldump). All the time I see my favourite filename "atikmpag.sys" on a blue background :(

Here a screenshot which shows all informations about my GPU / GPU Driver / BIOS:

(Is there any reason by the way why GPU-Z / Hwinfo 64 are showing different PCI-E speeds?)

That is the latest updated VBIOS right?

Ive been upgrading the drive from the stock one from ASUS all the way to the most recent without a single clean install and I get great scores and can run furmark overnight. Games run great as well. So for me, the drivers are not the issues.

Well I think so, you see the vBIOS version on the screenshot.

For me everything is working also fine, just the latest drivers make issues and I really tried a lot of cleaning ways already.

Just to understand this right, the BSOD happens while you normaly work on your machine and not just when installing the latest driver?

It happens ONLY when I install any driver above 10.10. The BS appears generally while its barely doing something. It doesn't happens while 3D applications are opened.

Its actually quite funny, it mostly restarts when I leave it alone for a while ... so when I come back I see a restarted system.

Replied in my thread, but 12.1 will install with OD vBIOS active...only 12.1, that is as all other balk.

Going to try one more time after a small nap (while a full system image is made) and see what happens after 93 is reapplied.

But, yeah, your GSOD/BSOD issues scream "stock vBIOS problem".

Check out this thread: G73 Freezing/Crashing Issue - WORKAROUND FOUND. Your reported symptom of a BSOD when leaving the system idle appears spot on. It sounds like ThrottleStop may provide a workaround for you.

While we're talking about the latest drivers, can anyone here vouch for increased performance using the latest cats?

The question is why this issues aren't appearing with older driver revisions?

Thanks for the help tijo =)

Bios updated to 213, VBios updated to OD2, and GPU drivers updated to 12.6 without a hitch.
