I've read enough things on here about people bricking their G73s trying to flash to 211 to just stick to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" policy. Now although the stock drivers work great, they don't seem to have OpenGL support. This is especially apparent in a few steam games and Dolphin (for those of you who are not familiar, Google Dolphin Emulator, the G73 handles it amazingly). My question is, are there any other things / dlls I can download in order to activate OpenGL support on the stock ATI drivers? Is there a known older version that won't cause my laptop to GSOD? I've already tried 10.8, and it GSODed something awful. Thanks in advance.

Use EZFlash in BIOS with a USB flashdrive and flash to BIOS 211, then update the vBios. That is really the only solution, and the right one.

If this was the best solution, so many people wouldn't end up bricking. I'd rather wait till I'm back in Toronto where I can go to the ASUS service centre and have them do it properly. For now, I'd appreciate any sort of work-around. Anyone have stock drivers and have OpenGL working?

You will not be able to update the drivers until you update the BIOS and vBIOS. Then you can use the newer builds. If you are afraid of doing it yourself, then have it done at the Asus center.

Or don't run the software that uses OpenGL.

No work-arounds will be supplied for modded 10.1 drivers, since it's a pointless endeavor.

All ATi drivers should have OpenGL support. OpenGL 4.0 support was only provided with a beta 10.4 and starting with 10.5. But should have OpenGL 3.0 support.
    - There are no games that support OpenGL 4.0 BTW, that I am aware of, since ATi just supported it. And Nvidia are still working on support for it officially.

And you can just try to install a new drivers. Contrary to what Chastity said, I was able to install any driver I wanted without GSOD or crashes up to 10.8, and plenty of other uses said the same.

But if you have GSOD or problems, as Chastity said, a vBios flash should fix that.

Thank you. Would you happen to have a link where I could find older mobility drivers?

Err.. What I had meant was since official 10.5, ATi drivers have had support for OpenGL 4.0. But read there were some further improvements with 10.8. You should install 10.8.
