I was ecstatic to finally find this discussion group for the vBIOS driver and flash directions. I still am having trouble with installing the newest ATI drivers for the 5870 for this laptop. Could someone please explain what I need to do in order to swap to the new ATI drivers? I would be eternally grateful!![]()

uninstall current drivers
reboot
install new drivers
reboot -
Har har...do I need to uninstall through device manager? Or do I need to use a program to wipe it?
-
That's pretty much it, lol. I use driver sweeper to remove any old traces of the old ATI driver stuff though then install the new drivers. But yeah it's pretty much that simple.
Go to your programs in the control panel and just uninstall through the catalyst manager and follow the instructions. After you can use driver sweeper or something similar to remove any traces of the old stuff and then install the new stuff. -
Thanks
10.11 here I come!
Um...I must be dumb or something. I cannot get CCC to install or run properly. Do I have to install something else besides CCC first? -
Make sure you're using the Mobility drivers and not the Desktop drivers. It happens.
-
Where do you just DL drivers? Do I have to get CCC?
-
Yes, CCC is important. You're most likely using the incorrect installer. Here's the Mobility 10.11: 10-11_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe

I DL'd and installed CCC 10.11, it won't run. I made sure it was Mobility drivers. What am I doing wrong?
And here I thought flashing my BIOS and vBIOS was going to be the hard part.../sigh -
Is your windows fully updated? Try 10.10 and see if it works.
-
Problem solved...uninstalled, DL'd from your link, and that seemed to work...could it be the drivers on ATI's site are what screwed me up? I swear I went to the mobility drivers. Even the file name had "mobility" in it.
Anyway, thank you for your help! I really appreciate places like this. Worth their weight in gold!
Now to test these babies out!
