got my G73 last monday and have to send it back to ASUS for RMA because the poor laptop hangs everytime when I run WAR3......I've tried to reinstall the OS for more than 5 times and tried different drivers but I still got this problem. Everytime the laptop hangs, the display will turn black, and then comes a lot of vertical lines. Seems theres something wrong with the graphic card. Anyone else have the similar problem?

Yup. I just sent mine back too for video issues. In my case it was fine with the stock drivers but with Catalyst 10.3 it would freeze with corruption after a bit, without fail.

I SOOOO wish ASUS would have just used ATI's 5870m. This reverse MXM stuff is strange and just begs for issues to be found.

Good luck on your RMA. It seems like ASUS is starting to receive replacement stock faster than a month ago, so here's hoping you don't have to wait 3 weeks for a replacement.

Where did you get urs from milk and did you upgrade or buy as is?

I am trying to figure out why some ppl have issues while others don't.

You think it could be a possible manufacturing issue on the models or just individual machine issues?

It could be the case of a substandard run of parts that wasn't caught before the product left the factory. Possibly, the problem laptops could have come from a bad batch/run or maybe a specific manufacturing facility that had bad quality control.

I have a G73JH-X1 model with no hangs, lockups or crashes on stock drivers. It also recognizes all 8GB of ram. Usually, I never update drivers if the current ones never give me any problems.

Yea that's what I plan on doing also, besides the windows 7 updates I don't plan to update anything till i start any issues because of outdated drivers.

Have to agree on this one, mine fell down 20 steps of carpeted staircase and still runs strong.

My P-6831FX will be two years old next month. Still running strong. I have to admit it's not my main rig though. I've never had any problems with it and probably would purchase another FX model if the G73 never came into existence.

I'm surprised as well, mine has BEEN ABUSED A LOT for more than 1 year, and works great. It's built quality didn't seem that good either. I guess, you can't judge it by it's shell XD
