I've had my t9800 installed for about a week now, I can't believe the difference it has made for gaming on my g50v x1. The question I wanted to ask is if it is worth overclocking or not? Would reaching 3.2ghz be worth the increased temps or no since the t9800 is 2.93ghz. My idle temps are 40c and when gaming for a few hours on crysis 2 it's 68c.

Temps don't jump like crazy for 10% overclock. Temps jump HUGE at 20-30%.

Your temps shouldn't increase much at all if you are not increasing the voltage.

Ok I will go ahead and try, thanks for the advice. I've never done any over clocking before so apologies for the noob question.

Stick to software overclocking though, only think about flashing if you are 100% sure that you have a stable o/c.

From researching the forums here I belive using throttlestop seems to be the best option, I found the guide that someone posted up here so I'll take it from there. This really is a great forum, very user friendly. I've been to other forums where users won't even acknowledge your questions.

Yup throttlestop always worked well for me when I had my C2D xtreme. I like SetFSB too a very user friendly and easy to use program.

SetFSB is a better bet - Throttlestop is more for the Xtreme CPUs.
