Been having this 'blah blah has stopped responding and recovered' issue for awhile. Typically happens during games and will also happen with gfx programs like Maya and even Google Earth. Basically 3d stuff.

The latest patch 8.17.12.8562 (which I installed to get rid of the problem) has made it worse msybe..it now crashes almost all the time.

I have 2 types of crashes

    1. TDR driver blah blah has stopped responding and recovered...

    2. The program simply minimizes and crashes to desktop with winblows saying the usual 'diagnosing do you want to debug yadda yadda.'

In either case the program will lockup if I try to restart it again until I restart.

I don't think temps are the real problem since they stay around 80C.

Anyone have any help? There doesn't seem to be any definitive solution or guide for diagnosing the problem.

Until I get help I'm basically stuck with netbook like functionality. Only good for web and office programs...

Update: I just checked the event viewer and I'm seeing 'Display driver nvlddmkm has stopped responding' crashes seemingly correspond to the times when the second crashes occur.
