Hey guys, a friend of mine has hit temps of 85C on her GPU. Could you tell me at what too hot is too hot, and what is ok? Thanks.

85 C is not excessive for in game use. What was she doing when the temp reached 85? For idle I have seen 40-60 C (from various users). In game 60-90 + is normal- thermal shutdown happens above 110 C.

If you start hitting over 90C, it's time to worry, if you hit over 100C, it's high time you do something about it.

I have had two G73JH's one GPU was near 90c at load after a repaste which helped. The one I just picked up for $400us is 79c under full load overclocked 850/1100 (I might up the voltage a little and go for 900/1200). Just depends on the GPU how lucky you get. There were some bad GPU's, good GPU's and great gpu's.
