Hi all,
Well I've owned my G50VT for about 2 years now and it's been great. I'm active duty Navy and brought this thing on 2 deployments with me to use while at sea. This thing takes a beating.. I game constantly, burn movies, music, and even watch cable TV on it and have had no issues until recently.
I play WOW (on maxed out settings) and just last night it started chopping up terribly. I know how and have everything for it but I dont overclock at all. I never needed to. So, first thing i checked was temps. CPUID HWmon reported a max temp of 109 C on my GPU (ouch). Idling was 78! (Ambient 68-70F)
I turned to NBR forums and sure enough someone (Chastity) had some outstanding information on re-pasting my heatsink. So, being the "break-it-yourselfer" type I got out the tools and picked up some AS5 and here I am Idle at 53C, maxed out (Ultra) settings on WOW and haven't seen any higher than 75C.. (been on for about 2 hours now)
I went from an almost nuked lappy to a brand-new again machine in approx. 3 hours time it took to troubleshoot was wrong and fix it like new, thanks to you all here.
