Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 options, up to 16GB of DDR3 memory on the quad-core machines (8GB of DDR3 on the dual-core rigs), a LED-backlit "HD" display, NVIDIA "Enthusiast" graphics, room for a pair of hard drives (or an SSD / HDD combo system), an optional Blu-ray drive, USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI 1.4 port for piping those 3D signals to your 3D HDTV. Per usual, there's no mention of a price tag, but hopefully we'll be clued in sooner rather than later.

ASUS debuts 15.6-inch ROG G53 3D gaming laptop at Computex -- Engadget

    OR

    Asus ROG G73Jw 3D - 3D Vision Blog

"ASUS is demonstrating its new 15.6″ Asus ROG G53 3D gaming laptop (with 120Hz LCD panel) that has full support for 3D gaming and the new HDMI 1.4 output (does not come bundled with 3D Vision glasses), a new 17.3″ Asus ROG G73Jw 3D-ready laptop that may come with the recently announced GTX 480M GPU combined with a 1080p 120Hz LCD panel. As well as the Asus G51Jx-EE 3D-ready laptop that probably has the Nvidia IR transmitter integrated to support the 3D Vision active shutter glasses. "

What is the cost for these?

This is a new road for Asus it seems. The only truly expensive notebook was the W90 which was discontinued for innumerable problems.

I also don't get the excitement for 3D Vision. Sure you get fake looking 3D, you also lose half the quality/details. I just don't get it.

Well for those waiting for the G53 there it is.

For the G73jw, rumored to be the 480M. I wonder how Asus cooling will handle that. It seems alright for HD5870M, I am happy with it, but wouldn't call it spectacular. A 100 Watt beast that took no consideration for temperature will be a different story.
    - In this chapter, I would probably go with a Sager with 480M than an Asus with 480M.

Another G53 thread? BTW, why point out the M15x? Why not the W860CU since it has better GPU options?

And how is a 350M GTS supposed to do anything to 5870MR or 5850MR?

Exactly. A 350 GTS is so meh. Why pick that card for a 3D laptop? How can one expect good performance?

We don't know the final specs.
I hope the 350GTS is only for a base model and have the option to upgrade with the premium models.
    Is the 350GTS confirmed?

If worse comes to worse I'll buy a GTX 260m and toss that in. Here's hoping there's a non-3D version, though. I really don't need 3D.

Looking at the thickness of of that machine which is not very thick at all, I doubt we will see any high end card in there.

Hmm I wonder if Asus will use the same MXM as they did with the GTX 260 in the G51. If they do, that might be a great idea, especially if the GTX 260 in game, DX10 pawns the GTS 350, which I have a feeling it would.

Although would have to double check the bios supports the 260 and that the heatsink supports it also.

Of course, of course. Ideally, I would love a model with 460m and above.

I'm stoked that they're keeping dual HDD bays.

Who needs hybrid when you get a fast, high capacity HDD and a true SSD.

An Intel G3 and a 7200rpm 750GB+ Western Digital or Hitachi would be godly.

They combine the best of both worlds, faster than traditional HDD while not costing much more.
I guess you can always upgrade yourself and get whatever you want.

I'm interested in confirming if there are 2 cooling fans like the g73. It looks like it in the picture gallery but I'm not 100% sure.

Quite sure they'll turn out non-3D versions. I think it is mentioned somewhere in the article. I think I read in a piece about the upcoming G73jW and g53j, just a bit lazy to dig it up again. :)

I just can't trust the 480M... double the power consumption and slight better then 5870M in performance and tons of heat.

How big the power adapter will looks like

Yeah i will buy a G73W just for the 480 and the 3D vision screen 120HZ refresh rate cause its going to be the same screen as the X7200 coming out anyway and damn man its going to be the waiting game again of having too wait and working out the kinks. I don't know why they can't have a brighter screen and also finally why they can't again go for a dual setup again its going to be awesome if they do that again, it truly was their most expensive notebook.

Yeah I'm definitely interested in how much $$$ for the G73W.

Foe me, it's between that and the W880CU. I hope the Clevo gets and RGB like his big brother x7200.

Always been more interested in Asus Machines due to their backlit keyboards!!! Clevo makes awesome machines in terms of build quality towards asus can be so so but they seriously need to stop with this mentality of such a basic looking computer time for a backlit keyboard.

    At the earliest probably August.

But I think will depend on demand. If for some reason there is a large demand for giant notebooks, all Clevo's are increasing in size by 10%... then I think the wait time for these will be atrocious. If the demand as I suspect low, then it may not be that bad.

With its stealth fighter good looks and 15” 3D display, the ASUS ROG G53 is an extremely powerful portable

The iconic design of the F-117 stealth fighter-inspired ASUS ROG G73h has been a big hit with gamers who want a laptop that looks as incredible as it performs, but not everyone wants a lug a large 17″ screen. so, ever willing to respond to the needs of its users, ASUS has developed a more portable model — the 15″ ROG G53.
More compact it may be, but the ROG G53 still packs the same astounding performance as its bigger sibling. it has the same innovative case design too, including rear-facing vents that pump warm air away from hands for cool gaming sessions and a unique wedge shape that keeps the keyboard at a more comfortable angle. Not content with simply shrinking the G73h, though, ASUS has also added another cutting-edge technology — 3D.
The RoG G53 has the same amazing stereoscopic 3D display as ASUS’ incredible G51Jx laptop, and NVIDIA® 3D Vision technology puts you smack in the middle of the action, whether you’re watching a movie or playing a game. active-shutter lCD glasses and a 120Hz refresh rate deliver full-resolution 3D images that can be viewed from any angle for total immersion — all in a package that’s portable enough to take with you wherever you go.
Experience immersive 3D images on the G53’s 15” display — NVIDIA® 3D Vision technology gives a full-resolution image with a 120Hz refresh rate and LCD shutter glasses.

The wedge design of the G53 tilts the keyboard with soft- touch palm-rest at an angle to help keep your hands more comfortable when typing.

Keep your hands cool during long gaming sessions, thanks to an innovative cooling system that vents warm air through the rear of the laptop.

The GTS350M is just a rebadged 9800 series technology. I would have thought that a GTX285M would have been a better choice. (which is still 98xx tech too)

I think you need to remember that you're not texting before you post, and then people will take you seriously.

On a more related note, I don't think you'll see a huge difference between the g73jw and the g73jh in terms of performance. Maybe usb3 on the jw, which is a bit of a joke considering people don't generally buy fast enough flash drives to saturate usb2. And CUDA, if you're into that sort of thing. You'll get nvidias legendary support (ha!)...

i just got the G73JH and am loving it. Though my plan originally was to get it and send it back after 30 days, then get the G73JW. If it's out by then, which it probably won't be, but now I'm having second thoughts because I'm pretty content with this one. Will it be worth switching? Beaming 1080p HD to at TV (3D or not) is still pretty sick, and it will have USB 3.0? all with the same if not better performance? I'm at a crossroads...
