I just researched all the zalmans and thermal takes and cooler master laptop coolers..

I owned the amazing cooler master laptop cooler with the changeable fans..you basically can place them anywhere. and they have alot of windspeed, you can really feel the air.

I just went to the store to see what all the fuss about the Thermal Take Massive 23cm Lx cooler was about.

I benchmarked crysis for 50 runs with my old cooler and temps maxed at 97c.
I then tested out my new cooler and temps dropped 12c which is amazing considering the drop is 12c cooler to cooler and not stock.

If you own a laptop cooler and want 12c knocked off(bottom panel open of course) then this is a must buy.

pros: cheap cost me only 26cad
    huge amount of airflow
well built looks like it should cost 150 dollars
    aluminum
    rubber grips
    2 extra usb ports
    awesome blue LED lights
if you trust me, it will drop your temps 10-15c without bottom cover on

cons: are you kidding me, what cons?? unless you hate the color blue this is for you.

ps. the zalmans i was checking out were the newest models with the extra hd slot ect...when i tested them they all had extremely poor airflow in comparison to my old cooler

Good review, you planning on adding pics btw ?
and when you say without bottom panel.... meaning you've removed the panel on the laptop ?
*sigh* now if I could only find a place which delivers to lithuania without feeling like robbery
Just to give an idea: FrozenCPU feels it's USPS Express Mail International $88.50 is reasonable shipping cost....
and overclockers.co.uk doesn't even deliver here
Trying to find a seller locally from the product site only leads to a warehouse, where of course no one speaks english >_<

He's talking about CoolerMaster U2 and Thermaltake Massive 23cm. In short Thermaltake is better than Coolermaster U2?

    lol.

its better by quite a bit.

to let you guys understand how good it is exactly and why you should order 1 now.

I looped crysis 63 times and my max temp is 88c.

to give you guys an idea of how amazing that is.

stock voltages stock clocks i would see a max of 92c with a very very good laptop cooler.

now im overvolted and overclocked quite a bit, without the cooler i'd see 100c within 2 min of testing.

so understand me when I say this, If you care about your laptops longevity buy this cooler as soon as you can get 40 bucks.

It looks sick, it has a nice slant, its high quality, and its like having a freezer under your laptop.

another reason.. I usually return stuff the day I buy it, but after seeing 12 c lower im forced to keep the cooler.

also if you are reading this thread and own a laptop cooler already, like I said before....you will see major drops in temps

    edit.

yupitchie: in short the thermal take is > all available notebook coolers on the planet

also look at my sig...its overvolted by quite a bit and with that brings about 10c more per .05v underload..

now i can benchmark 3dmarkvantage at 1.1v and see if I make a record..

pushing this laptop to the limits is kinda addicting

Your best bet in Europe is Germany where they often have decent prices, followed by France, but you have to search a bit more for prices. If English is a must, there are these islands off the coast of France... also, the Dutch have specialty shops (like the coolermaster shop) that deliver across europe and the sites are often in English.

Not bad. looks like quite a good improvment over the CLN0009 model.

I own both the CLN0008 and CLN0009 models.

I use the CLN0008 for my G73JH and it rocks. I use the CLN0009 on an old laptop with fan problems. Performance-wise the 2 models are pretty similar but the CLN0008 is 100% metal while the CLN0009 is all plastic except for the mesh grille that covers half the top. The CLN0008 definitly feels a lot more strong and resistant but it,s much more heavy then the CLN0009

The CLN0015 (Massive 23 LX) seems to be the best of both worlds and correct most defaults of the CLN0009. The rubber feet on top will stop the laptop from sliding on it (CLN008 had them but not CLN0009) and it looks much more sturdy then the CLN0009 which honestly feels downright cheap when compared to the CLN0008 (to be fair it was half the price). USB hub is a good bonus.

It's not a must... but it does get kind of hard to communicate with someone by phone when I can't talk,or to be more precise talk a language they understand.
I know some german,so I'll see if I can stumble through it and get it shipped...somehow

....I want to see some pics and I believe I'm not the only one.... how about that for a starter, then perhaps answer the question about the bottom mod
and continuing on with ellaborating which Zalmans you did in fact test, they are many and they are well rated...so there you have it

CLN0008 is usually good for -5c to -7c on my G73JH.
I can't say for the CLN0015, maybe they changed the fan settings.

I'm a big fan of the Cooler Master NotePal U3. It doesn't have the greatest airflow, but since you can move the fans wherever you want, it more then makes up for it imo since so many coolers will just end up blowing air onto nothing. Plus it was something like $20 at Fry's, and cheap is always a plus.

The U3 version has 3 fans, which in the case of the G73 lets me put a fan on each vent.

we're just asking about some pictures and screeshots of with, without, etc.

I see you have the G71. Does it have the overhead issues of the G73?

I'm not going to buy that kind of item from that kind of endorser hahaha. I got my own cooler and I really don't mind whether it's the best or not as long as it fits well and do its job.

Wahahaha! Chill dude, don't say too much unnecessary things.

Yupp, pictures are basically so others can see the fit.... instead of lugging our machines around for in-store testing (or in some cases online shopping where fit testing isn't possible) it would be nice to see it on pics so people, like myself, who is considering it,but don't have a chance of testing it out gets to see it since with the computer on top we can then visualize it sitting under our own machines and therefore can ahead see/decide if it will fit our needs....

Now which one to pick.... the ST or LX....hmmmmm

Here you can see the fit on both a standard 15 inch laptop and the G73. Although this cooler is for "up to 17 inches", it fits really well with a 15 inch laptop and is dwarfed by the G73. You barely see the cooler under the G73 but the laptop is still very stable on it. You can forget about the gimmicky LED lights under the cooler, you definitly won't be seeing those.

As to which one to chose, the CLN0008 is really nice but it was expensive... cost me almost 80$ CAD. The CLN0009 was closer to 35$ with mail rebate. If the CLN0015 is somewhere between the 2 than its probably the best deal. The 2-port USB hub is also a nice addition that the other 2 models don't have.

    Not sure about that.
I read somewhere that you can use with an external A/C power source and that it will make the fan spin faster but I only use it with the USB adapter so for all I known it could be utter bull.

hmmm k, I'll be ordering the LX next week since I managed to find a local store, have a universal A/C power source which I bought for my mixer so maybe one of the plugs will fit the cooler. I'll try to remember to post the outcome once I have it

    UPDATE
Alright, brought the cooler home today....it's big, hoisted the laptop WAY more than I thought it would, there is no A/C, and so far I haven't seen any lower temps...but, it might have a more "keeping it low" effect.
Noise level....I can hear it....meh,doesn't bother me, it really is pretty low noise

My prediction about the temps was right, it didn't bring on lower idle temps but lets the machine have a lower temp during gaming, and "cooldown" goes faster... haven't timed it though.
It does,as mentioned before, hike up the machine considerably so I tend to use my external keyboard more than the internal one. since I have the kind of desk with a "dedicated keyboard shelf" ? if that makes any sense. basically it's high from before, and the cooler made the laptop go even higher.
oh and the air which slips out in front is a vague, but nice breeze for keeping me cool too :D

All in all, I'm satisfied with my buy. Since I don't move the machine about much. I can see how this cooler can be annoying for people who needs mobility, so you'll have to weigh it up against that.

For the price it's good enough for me

Here's a pic in case my explanation of the kind of desk was unclear http://www.traderscity.com/board/userpix24/21811-home-computer-desk-table-1.jpg

I use the Zalman NC3000U with my G73jh and I get -4 C temps on GPU across the board (idle and load) - the lower panel is always installed.

Costs twice as much here,so I opted for the thermaltake instead
