posted this in another thread, but here is mine...

Desktop Screen Shot 1920x1080 link btw...

I pulled most of the gadgets, and removed all the Asus bloatware finally, still rocking the GPUobserver gadget, and the one on the top right

We've had a bunch of these threads, they never stay on topic, and everyone posts huge images. I'll give this one a chance but keep your embedded images under 500x500 pixels (you can link to any resolution, see forum rules) and keep it ASUS themed. Otherwise desktop stuff belongs in the windows forum. Thanks. ;)

I'm ashamed to say it but I like these threads. I followed the link in mite_jan's post and saw dreamscapes which I promptly installed. The "animated wallpaper" is the bomb! :) I now have the Star Trek Voyager orbiting the Earth as my wallpaper. Very cool indeed. The thread that showed up last week turned me on to rainmeter which I still haven't fully configured. If you guys keep pointing out all of this cool desktop stuff I'm going to wind up with my computer consuming 25% of my processor time just idling. :(

Rainmeter does wonders. Go nuts with downloading them skins.
Then install uxstyle core and go banana's with visual styles.

As for cpu idle time, now that I got 90% of my sidebar replaced, its at 2-9% idle (according to Task Manager). With CS5, FF, Chrome, media player, and MSN running.
Skype can go die in a hole with its new 5.2. 122mb of RAM consumption just idling. /shakes head.

Eh, I don't mind ram being used. It's not like I lack for ram in my g73, and that's what it's for. Doesn't mean skype isn't a bloated program ... just means I don't care, so long as it isn't using processor cycles.

While all that is partly true, the part where we aren't hurting for RAM, the new non-optional link up with Facebook does occasionally use up a few CPU cycles everytime it refreshes.

Compared to an say, older version of Skype. Can't downgrade because the audio quality and bandwidth optimizations in the new versions are significant.

Just a mini Skype rant. :p Better get back on topic before AllurGroceries hits me with a broccoli.

I don't see this thread living much longer. Who in their right mind would keep their desktop Asus themed. lol
