I was going to jump on the deal but a quick look around the net threw some issues at me. Are these things still plagued with all the problems? Im not going to be really gaming on it but I just like my PC to be fast and responsive. I do tend to mess with PS at times though. This particular laptop has an i7, 6gb DDR3 ram and 500gb HD.
The guy wants 700. he started out at 900 an dropped that fast. I look at it this way:
a) he wants to get rid of it ( like he says he does )
b) it's FUBAR
c) Doesnt know what he has.
He said it has 8 hours or so on it, I call BS. He said he bought it for flight school and to run Flight Sim X on it. blah blah ok fine.
Long story short, since this is used. Are all the potential issues that are wrong with this model now fixable? Doable by the average joe? Im not an idiot with electronics, just cannot be too invasive.
Also anything I should ask him about/take pictures of prior to maybe getting this?

I'd demand pictures and a video, or if this is a real life exchange I suggest you go and examine it yourself and check temps, the condition of the unit, etc. But yeah 700 is a steal, definitely get him to show some pics or something though. The majority of the issues on the G73 have been solved, I think the only ones left are the keyboard issue (Which not all G73s have) and the touchpad issue (Same as keyboard issue).

Hello,
I would definitely follow KuroLionHearts advice, if you can physically look/touch the system before buying you can determine at the least how well the machine has been treated - I would recommend taking a thumb drive with you with the GPU Observer "Gadget" on it, so you can view the temps of the GPU (the biggest issue - easily resolved if you're tech enough) that afflicted the G73.
You might also check to see if the owner has "registered" the serial number with ASUS - If not, then you might get away with a transfer of ownership and warranty.
The key is to get a look and feel of the machine before purchase - If not able to do that, then make sure you have the means to return the machine and get your money back.
Definitely a great deal at 700.00 - Would be hard for me to pass up - unless I couldn't get a hands on test before purchase, then I would easily pass it by.
In Peace and Agape,

thanks guys. I dont have access to it in person..
What should I tell him to run? I can try to get him to take some screenshots etc. I will ask him if he takes returns. Im going to try and get the price down, why not right? -
Tell him to run furmark, if it lasts 25 mins then youre good atm(it might degrade overtime so you would need to repaste) with temps. And most issues that plagued the G73 has been fixed, well I for one don't have issues now, and I feel its the best laptop for me.

Ok. will do.
Is there something on the screenshot that can prove that he ran it for X amount of time? -
Make him put a sticky note/paper with his full name in the pictures and videos.
Also, make sure you get all his personal info too.
As a payment method, use Paypal with your CC attached. This way, if he rips you off, Paypal will cover you up to 2000$, but in the case they don't, a chargeback on your CC will, so you have a safeguard. -
ok coo. Thanks guys!
-
Whats funny is the guy emailed me back and said he doesnt want to run programs that could damage the PC. hahaha I bet he knows its a POS now and needs repasting. So scratch that one.
-
If the problem is that it is running hot, the repaste procedure is not overly complicated and can be done by yourself.
-
OR
YOU (STILL) LIE! -
Well basically he wouldnt do anything I asked him to do. In terms of sealing the deal on the laptop. He said that he didnt want to run any programs that could harm the laptop. I was like its to see the temps etc and I never got a reply back.
-
oh well, forget him
-
Kinda still want it tho haha.
Thinking about getting a G73JH, few questions.
