I just hit my 1 year mark of owning my G73JH which I bought used from someone on a different forum. I've been looking at my temperatures lately and the do seem to be a tad high. Currently with the laptop on my lap and only firefox with 2 tabs open, my cpu temperatures are ~55*. When I play GW2, they get up into the 70s. My slightly overclocked 5870 765/1100 reaches up into the 80s. I know these temperatures aren't extreme but do you guys think it is time for me to repaste the cpu/gpu and do a thorough clean-out of the fans?

What are your ambient temps? Mine was pasted by Powernotebooks with IC Diamond (over 2 years ago) and with ambient temps ~ 20 C, my GPU stays around 50 and the CPU is about 45 with 2 firefox windows open. I would not repaste yet in your case, but you may want to at least do this How I fixed my G73 overheating problem! - YouTube & see how much dust comes out.

JOSEA's right. I have re-pasted my G73JH last April of 2012 but when I got high temperatures this March of 2013, I just opened up the machine and removed all the dusts on my heatsink fins with a soft clean tooth brush, cleaned the 2 exhaust fans (blades and insides) with a microfiber cloth, and then used a non-flammable compressed air can on the heatsink fins to make sure it's all clean.

After doing those, my temps are back to normal as new.

Always worth cleaning out the fans, if your on the stock thermal paste then go ahead, if it's IC diamond that or the like then it wont have gone bad.

When I had the g73jh, cleaning out the fans and heat sink help with the high temperature.

    So I do that first.
