I live in the UK and really want to buy the G73JH but it saves lot to import it.
I would like to know the final cost for those of you who imported the G73JH into UK. And any additional charges from the shipping companies.
Suggest which online seller I should buy from and which shipping company I should use.
Thank you very much for those who can help.

Thanks for the info, but I have already used that site for checking but it does not show any additional charge by some shipping companies.
I would like to know individual user experience on this, because I dont want to take all the hassle of import and end up the same price if I brought it in the UK.
Thanks -
I would suggest you to buy from GenTechPC. PM Ken Lee:

No one have import this into the UK? :X

Another cheap way I'm thinking of is if your after the cheap (BestBuy) version, is buy from them and then get someone to ship it to you from the US. There are companies that will do this.
I'm in Spain and also thinking of getting one, but the $1199 version which is about 828 pounds. -
I have ordered G73JH-A2 from Genetech and currently cost £1,171.68 GBP with shipping after the conversion.
Now waiting for PayPal to clear the payment.
I will post update of any additional custom and handling fee when it comes.
I hope it will save a lot from buying locally @ £1700 with less accessories. -
Congratz . . . on your new laptop. Hope that you have a lot of fun dealing with Ken Lee. His service is indeed at the top notch!
-
Do I have to email and tell them I explicitly want Ken Lee to deal with it? -
P.S: I have given you his e-mail at the previous several post. -
Yea, Ken is dealing with my order, finger cross, waiting for the fund to clear and shipping
-
Gentech ships it out very fast. Many times on the same day when the funds are received. -
-
whats the wait time on stock at Gentech? did they say when you ordered? Xoticpc estimate 5-7 weeks
-
-
But I have to wait a week for the payment to clear via Paypal, plus I really want this laptop so it is fine with me. -
If they have stock they would even ship it less than a day. Just took mine around 6 days to arrive including week ends, if it weren't for week end it might reach me 4-5 days. And I ordered it from Malaysia he shipped it all the way from USA. Superb service.

Lucky.
I'm currently in Qatar, and on top of the shipping cost, at $259, (bumped up to a supernaturally enlarged 33lbs of volumetric weight because for some reason TigerDirect decided that the red ASUS ROG box wasn't heavy enough), with about $120 in customs and duties, I had to fork out an extra $70 for the governmental ICT branch to clear the damn shipment.
I used DHL as my carrier and the package came in superb condition (other than the seal being broken due to the customs check).
Note all of you, if you're in the Middle East, be aware of a hell of a lot more extra cost due the nature of these countries.Money first, questions later.
-
YEAH!!! My G73 has arrived.
and LOL, I do not need to pay duty and tax.
Gentech did a great job declaring the shippment as "PC Warranty Repair" and $400.
I will also update the first post to included the total cost of this + saving.
Love you Gentech >3 -
My, that was rather very nice of them.
-
GentechPC, if you're listening, you earned yourself a future customer here.
-
GentechPC website is not writing INTERNATIONAL ORDERS ARE WELCOME, since i went to there site and could not find anything about international orders, so I ended up dealing with Xtopic.
Pre order Mars 15 pay may 5 and according to them tomorrow June 15 I will get tracking number of USPS from USA to Hongkong $186 for transportation, so as you can see it will be more than 3 months
But if GentechPC and Ken Lee can confirm they do international service I will give a try for sure on my next buy -

In case of warranty do you have to send it back to US or can you repair it at a local authorised service center?
Can you get a different keyboard (German perhaps) at gentech?
Do you get the correct adapter for the power outlets for your country? -
They usually do not have a German Keyboard. I will change the keyboard myself. I ordered one from: Asusparts.
The power adapter supplied by ASUS is international one. So it should work without problems with 220v.
The only thing is that the power plug in USA is different than the Plug in Germany.
So for the plug either you have to buy an adapter or you can buy the whole power cord. The AC power cord on the ASUS adapter is detachable.
This is the cable that I mean: Notebook Stromkabel 3 polig 1,8m Laptop Kabel Power NEU bei eBay.de: Notebook-Netzteile (endet 07.07.10 13:16:44 MESZ)
ASUS offers an international warranty so you can repair it anywhere around the world. -
Buy it from Ebay
-
I bought mine from eBay the week it was released and the seller enabled me to avoid import tax (UK) via USPS, was sat in customs for a week mind.
Brilliant machine if they can iron out the random freezes which seem to much .less frequent now with BIOS 209 and the very latest ATI drivers. -
Did you get your Laptop from Ken? -
Go with Ken for sure best choice -
I haven't sent any laptops from the UK to the US for repair before, but I can tell you they don't ship internationally... I had my laptop in the US Repair Facility, just before going to England and they refused to sent it to a UK address. The only suggestion they had was to send it to a friend in the US, and get them to send it to the UK.
Regarding a UK keyboard, you cannot currently purchase parts from Asus UK. The only option is to send your laptop into the Service Center and pay them to replace it. However I don't know if you can ship from the .eu site to the UK... Germany however doesn't have this problem.
Lastly the AC adapters are v110-240 (the last I checked) so all you need is a different power cable for the AC adapter. -
The keyboard could be ordered from asusparts.eu. They ship to UK also. Actually as far as I know they ship worldwide. I know one person from N71JQ lounge living in UK who ordered a keyboard from this shop. -
Awesome, good to know... I'm also in need of of UK keyboard for a G51VX... so I'll get it from there when I get back to the UK.
-
Last week I ordered a German Backlit Keyboard to replace English keyboard on my N71JQ and at the same time I want to do backlightt moding for my N71JQ.
They told me that it will be shipped in around 3 to 4 weeks. -
This might be a little old but how do you who gets the package in UK when its shipped by USPS? My tracking is not updating and its been 2 days since its supposed to have left USA...
-
With USPS, I don't think you can track it once it leaves the U.S.. That's why some people prefer FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc. At least, that's what I've always heard...
-
the OP used the same shipping as me... that's why i was wondering..I haven't had any updates on USPS tracking at all on whether its in UK or not.. don't know what to do.. anyone knows?
Thanks
Sean473
P.S : it just updated... its in UK! Now in Customs.. Hopefully no problems there..
-
this is dumb.. 3 days and still in customs.. damm Parcelforce...
-
I ordered my N71JQ from Gentech PC through USPS. I knew that the local carrier in Germany was DHL so after it was in Germany I contacted DHL. They had more up to date info than the USPS website.
On other note, it is better to ship through USPS than UPS.
I heard that UPS can make you pay some handlings fees for processing the package at the customs. -
Parcelforce has mine.. their tracking information for the USPS tracking is the same theirs... I already sent a inquiry about why its taking so long.. hopefully i get it tomorrrow... i should have taken UPS.. there wouldn't be so much waiting.
-
Mine just came out of customs.. on Parcelforce tracking , its listed as released with charges.. ... not good.. i hope they don't put an insane value on it or i'm dead. i had mine as warranty repair so this shouldn't have happened.. still praying its delivered tomorrow. Can someone list their tracking?
