Hi,
This is my first post on this website. I have a G73JH-TZ173V and I love it. Graphics are great, gameplay is silky smooth, sound is awesome, screen is great.
But the keyboard and touchpad are terrible. I am a touch typer, and can type at about 100 wpm. You can imagine the frustration when it misses keystrokes as often as it does.
What is more annoying though, is the touchpad. Its just terrible. It doesnt respond the finger movement, tapping often doesnt work, the scroll often doesnt work, it just moves around wherever it wants, its just awful.
I know that there is an epic thread about this, but its like 98755 pages long, and I just want a simple answer. Is this fixable? Is it a simple firmware/software/driver update? I have bios 213, have latest synaptics drivers. Nothing seems to help. I really need this fixed, as my girlfriend is not the most patient person, and everytime she uses it I fear that it is going to end up on the other side of the room......
It is so bad that I have a USB mouse that I use 99% of the time. I do not consider this to be acceptable for a laptop.....
Please help

BIOS 213, Synaptics drivers 15.2.11+, ATK 1.07/1.08 Drivers, Keyboard Filter 1.03. Palm sensitivity max, pinch zoom off. I suggest using it on a table, putting pressure near the touchpad area due to having to hold the laptop with the other hand will cause the touchpad to register it as a press and cause lockups. Keyboard seems to have been fixed completely for me with BIOS 213.

I can't speak to others' experiences on this, but I have quite a bit of my own to share.
The issue really looks to be a hardware one, but one affected by a large quantity of the g73 series. There looks to be a specific set of drivers and settings that are "passable" and "most" people will not see issues with (I still see issues, regardless of settings / drivers). RMA'ing is a crapshoot unfortunately.
I base this off a lot of experience with my machine. I've sent it in for 2 RMA's and have tried everything on this site and beyond. The first RMA replaced the trackpad, same issue remained after a reinstall. Second RMA looked to just install some drivers, a clean install again wiped any semblance of a working touchpad. Both RMAs returned a screen in worse condition than original, and I've lost all my original packaging to the first RMA, so do at your own risk.
It is an incredibly frustrating issue, made only more so by Asus unwillingness or inability to actually FIX the issue. If the touchpad is a big deal to you, I would strongly suggest returning the machine while you are still able to. Otherwise, use a mouse and pretend the issue doesn't exist. Pretty sure that's why we got a mouse bundled at this point. -
