So i got my new G73SW-XN1 (for the second time new, because my last one had an internal webcam issue where it came loose and I returned it for a new comp) and I went ahead and partitioned the drive how it want, did all my setup, etc. The CD that came with it didn't have any upgrades to do as far as drivers etc, everything seems to be fine... THEN i went ahead and installed my razer deathadder (gaming mouse) and configured it how i want, etc last night. I turn the laptop off, unplug everything and put it in my bookbag for class the next day.
Today is that next day, I get to class pull out my g73, start it up, and the touchpad works on the sign-in screen (although I can't get the stupid facial recognition to work consistently despite the amount of pics from diff angles i took, it only recognizes me 50% of the time) so I go ahead and sign in then I get the msg on the lower right of my desktop warning me that the touchpad is off because there's another pointing device connected. Well there is nothing connected! I had to go to device manager and shut off that extra pointing device!! what's going on? anyone know? I dont have a mouse with me to plug in and see if its just still identifying it and didnt get the plug out correctly, i'll try that when I get home, but what is goin on!? common issue?

Excellent post - Great details, the facial recog. software is buggy especially in low ambient light. Very few here use it AFS I know.
Common issue, I do not think so.
If there is an option in the TP software to disable it make sure it is not checked (control panel, mouse - device setting I think)
If this is not a fix, please try this:
I would try removing the death adder, then powering down. Next power up and see if the issue persists. This is not a fix but may help isolate the issue.
