I've been trying to burn DVDs on multiple burning applications and have yet to have a successful DVD made. The software says it's doing its job, but the actual DVDs never work on DVD player.
Anyone else have this issue? Might it be a hardware issue?

What are you selecting as the disk type for the finished product? Most of the options are related to creating data disks readable on computers. On my Macs there is a program specifically targeted at authoring DVDs for use on home players.

    Cheers,

Authoring a DVD is a very specific layout. I use Pinnacle Studio to make DVD player style DVDs with menus to select scenes and such. I've never had good luck with standard burning programs creating proper DVDs. Some DVD players aren't too picky about that, but a lot of them are... especially older ones. You can make proper DVDs with video authoring programs, but regular burning programs will be hit or miss.

Okay cool, thanks... I'm going to look into a free video authoring software to use. What "disk type" should I be using/ settings and what not to be sure the DVD will be playable on my DVD player?

I don't know what is wrong but I am having the same issue (only I have a DVD+RW, not a blu ray drive). I can burns disks all day long, but the G73 will not recognize them. My Dell 1720 does recognize them though, and if I burn the exact same disk with the same ISO file on my dell, then the G73 does recognize it. I think it may be software, I'm reinstalling my OS, I'll see if that helps.
