I'm looking to transfer everything on my laptop from the OS C: to DATA D:
I'm not sure what I'm doing at all to be honest

If you're looking to literally move "everything", then you're going to run into problems when it comes to applications - they don't move nicely (if at all). Best bet for them is to uninstall and then reinstall onto D:.
The easiest thing to move will be your user data. To do this, go to C:\Users\Ceadeus and, for each subfolder (e.g. Downloads, My Docs, My Music, etc.), right click the subfolder, go to Properties, click on the Location tab, and change C: to D:. Once you confirm the change, Windows will move all of the contents in that folder and any new files will be saved to D: accordingly. -
what exactly is "everything"?

Indeed, define everything.
If you mean moving all the data, including the OS, on one drive to another drive (assuming you have two in your G73) cloning the drive would be the simplest way to do it.
If you have one hard drive that is partitioned in two and you are running out of space, you could merge the two partitions into one (easily done if the second partition is empty).
