    Hello all

First time poster, been lurking for months since i picked up my used G73JW- XR1

Did a clean install of 7 on a new Samsung 830 SSD and loving the computer.

Everything works perfect except for the bloody turboboost button.
The computer still boosts speed when needed and I have a desktop icon that shows when it is boosting. I understand the button is pretty much useless but its just the fact that it doesn't work and is bothering me

    Bios is 205
All drivers current and no other issues

Any input would be appreciated, and if there is a better place to post this topic I apologize and let me know.

    Thanks
    Cereallll

Thanks for the reply but I am still unable to have it work

I have installed the "chipset driver"
    The turboboost monitor works
I have the ATK package and all my other hotkeys function

I try to install power boost driver and says computer not compatable... So iIfeel like I am missing something else other than the given drivers as I have tried them before but something is not right

Thank you for the link though but I have tried that

    Downloading 64 bit.

The button does not trigger any effect at all. Have tried pushing it, pushing and holding, pushing with Fn.

I was able to get everything else on this laptop to work but have read on some forum people mention have to downgrade bios to like 202 to enable the "advanced" part of bios which can control turbo boost or something but never really posted a conclusion, just theories.

What you listed, THe Turbo Boost Monitor Application works and is on my desktop, showing my processor changing speeds.

    Thanks

    Ahhh hah

I had not installed that... I did now and the button now brings up the turbo icon

The driver still says computer is not compatable, but the buttons seems to work.

I thought it would keep my processor running at 2.8ghz the whole time but instead just allows to boost as the computer sees fit. When i turn it off, the computer doesn't boost at all so obviously it is working

Inferno, thank you greatly for your time. +rep if it lets me

One more precision, what the button enables is not turbo boost, but twin turbo. Turbo boost is built in the CPU and works on it's own, twin turbo raises the BCLK a little which is a totally different thing.

Ok, thank you for the clarification. You are correct, the computer does still turbo boost with twin turbo off, when i looked at it earlier my computer must just not have needed to increase its speed in the 10 seconds when I was staring at the meter.

I doubt I will see any increase or difference in every day use or games but it was just bugging me that I couldn't get it to work. Appreciate all the help

Thank you for the English lesson sarge, However it is customary in America to spell your as in your welcome. Almost all letters are addressed this way. But thanks for drilling me. :)

You're saying it is customary in the US to misspell "you're" into a possessive adjective before the word "welcome"? Why would anyone do that? Can you base your claim?
