First things first, I have had a problem with shutting down. For some reason, no matter what amount of programs I have on/off, the close program window will always pop up and give me options to force programs to stop. This happens even if I don't have any programs on the taskbar; it will just blink for a second and go ahead and finish shutting down. It's just a minor peeve, but it also seems it slows down boot down time.

Another that just happened is the windows feature to increase font. I usually have it at 100%, default, and decided to make it bigger because I was further away from the screen. It looked terrible at 125%, so I reverted to 100% default, but now the font is obnoxiously small than previously. It's even worse if I go from 150% to 125%.

Not sure why both these are happening. As for the DPI fix, I just set it to 101%... but eh..

:D Chango99, Welcom to the forum. Have you made any software or hardware changes to your machine? Have you done any tweaks?
Also who did you buy it from? If you got it from one of the boutique retailers mentioned throughout this ASUS forum I would call them and demand a resolution.
Lastly, exactly what model do you have, there are a plethora of them!

just re-install a fresh windows copy and dont mess with it aymore..don't fool around with the settings specially things you have no experience in.

and dont install any un-trusted software or those freebies that you can download from "freesoftware.com" "download.com" or whatever unless you really know what you are doing.

Wow, some really keen observations so far. ;)

In that one second of time can you read anything at all in the box? I seem to recall when I've had this same thing happened in the past that it turned out to be a service that was slow to stop. But, that's just a guess. Also, you could run Task Manager and watch the system shutdown. See if that offers any clues.

I can think of four ways, there's probably more, that can change the size of the items displayed. Not sure how interconnected they are, but you have the desktop icon size, the DPI size, the Display Resolution settings and you have the Advance Appearance Settings. However, probably the easiest thing to do would be the following:

    1. Right-click on the Desktop and select "Personalize" in the context menu.
    2. Select your Theme again.
    3. Close off "Personalization" and see if the situation has improved.

Do you have any logitech programs installed?
I also see that screen but only for about a second. If you have a logitech G13 installed it will cause this to happend.

The dialog is normal, and as mentioned, only should be seen when a process or processes is slow to terminate.

If the dialog goes away quickly that means the process terminated normally so nothing to worry about.

I would, however (also as mentioned), try to read what process is being slow. Most modern software shouldn't terminate slow every time you shut down. One exception is certain anti-virus software which can take a while to clean itself up.

Windows does this if you install certain applications. It isn't specific to you, it's specific to windows. If it's a totally fresh install, it may from latency, due to lack of drivers.

I have noticed that this problem occurs on computers that get a lot of strange programs installed on them.

As for the DPI, there are two settings in windows, one for font changes, one for overall scaling. Make sure you're changing the right one.

I don't see how hard it is to comprehend...

Sure some tweaks, but this general problem isn't really what's causing it. Also, I've been in this forum longer tan you o_O.

Kind of same as above, I don't know why you guys suggest or are insinuating this is a dire issue when it's not.

The option in windows to make text smaller/bigger in Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display

    I'll try that.

I have the Logitech G35 software. I had mouse and keyboard software but uninstalled them

Picture attached to clear up what's happening. Icons revert back fine and all, but not the font. See the comparison. Bigger text is 101%, the smaller text is 125% > 100%. They should be almost the same size, but something's up. Original post, I meant changing from 150% to 100% makes it smaller, not 150 > 125.
