Just updated the vBios for g73 from Gary's thread recently and ever since I've done this, I've had random freezes and computer shuts down after a blue hardware error screen pops up.

Usually the freezes occus a couples minutes after startup or when the computer is idle.

After the computer freezes, about 1 minute later the screen turns black and a blue screen comes up, saying there could be a hardware or software issue.

After few minutes of collecting data, the computer shuts down. When i restart, on startup i get this notification:

Here is some information i saw on the blue screen:
    Machine_CHECK_EXCEPTION
    Technical Information:
    ** STOP: 0x0000009C (0x00000000000000, 0xFFFF88003290C70, 0x0000000000000)

Here is the error notification afterstartup:

Please help, this is really annoying and is happening very often.
This never used to happen before i got the new vBios / Bios 211, which i updated on the same day.

I'm lucky while i was typing this thread, it did not happen.

    Any help would be appreciated.

<STRIKE>Please removed the BSOD image because it is misleading. The BSOD image show it is bugcheck 0xA while the "Windows has recovered..." image show bugcheck 0x3B.</STRIKE> (EDIT: Saw you edit your post) Try search for "bugcheck 0x3B". Sorry, I can't search it for you since while I'm replying this, I should doing something else. ;) I'll let you know if I found any useful information regarding your BSOD.

Thanks. It happened ever since i updated to bios 211 from 209, and the new vBios posted by gary, should i reverse to the older BIOS?
I updated the vBios only because i used to get gsod's and high temperatures of 90-102 degrees when playing WoW.. and ever since i got the new vBios the
temps never went higher than 90, but even though that problem was solved, this new problem has come up.

I just googled this because I thought I had seen a very similar blue screen before. Everything I see relates to a serious error with the CPU not the GPU. Microsoft says it is a hardware error being reported by the CPU but it could be memory related. Judging by the fact that you started having the error the same day you flashed your bios, it could be a glitch in the flash.

I would flash to an older bios like 206 and then flash to 209 or 211 again from a new download. Delete the one you have on your USB stick right now and never flash that file again. Use a different flash drive and flash a fresh download of 206. Hold the reset button in on the bottom of the laptop to perform a CMOS clear. Make sure it boots. Finally flash to 209 or 211 again.

That's what I would do. I'm going on the assumption that you didn't drop it or bang it into anything nor did you open it up to swap out a wifi card, memory, or mess with the hard drives that day. If you did any of that it could be a real hardware problem. If you didn't, I'm calling it a bad flash.

Your GPU is way too hot. Mine runs about 72C in WoW with everything on ultra. I don't think it's causing your bsod but your paste is failing.

Yeah, i've thought of pasting, but ill leave that for later.
I've never dropped anything or ever done any serious damage to the laptop.
    NEver opened it up either.

I also think it is a glitch with the firmware (BIOS/VBIOS). This MSDN Library mention it is caused by user-mode graphics drivers.

    This is for Bugcheck 0x9C:-
    Bug Check 0x9C: MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION

"The MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION bug check has a value of 0x0000009C. This bug check indicates that a fatal machine check exception has occurred."
Second error look a bit complex. You can always view full BSOD message with BlueScreenView.

Anyway, I think it is best to follow Jody's suggestion.

I agree, you were running way too hot. But you said since you updated, it never has hit 90c. And getting it right after startup seems way too soon to be heat, so I would do as Jody said, and revert to an earlier version. Then if no problems, update to another version. Again, wait a bit and see. Although there is a possibility that you could be seeing after effects from an earlier overheating issue. If you continue to have issues after trying what Jody said, RMA. Could be a problematic GPU.

You can get the bios 209 on the Asus G73JH Download page. I'm not sure about the earlier vBios.

I was under the impression that the newest vbios needs a newer version of ATI drivers. Have you done that?

The regular Asus support page has all of the various bios. I downloaded 206, 209, and 211 from there a couple of days ago. They had 204 as well, I think. There were five of them altogether.

I believe it's "provides better support for", not "needs".
