I'm using an Asus G53SW-A1, with the three USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0
Ever since i received my laptop, everytime I turn it on I get this "USB Unknown Device" pop up on the system tray. I go to Device Manager and I can see it there too, the details in Properties are:
Unknown Device
Device type: Universal Serial Bus controllers
Manufacturer: (Standard USB HostController)
Location: Port_#0002.Hub_#0003
Device status: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
Now the funny thing is there isnt even ANY device inserted!!!!
On top of that, all four USB ports work fine (I tried them all).
1) I have installed all the drivers for my laptop model from the Asus website, still didn't help. My BIOS is up to date as well.
2) Using 'update driver software' yields 'the latest driver has been installed'.
3) I can disable or uninstall it. But on the next startup it pops up again! This time the system tray ballon message gives something along the lines of "Device failed to install." I guess the system auto installs it on start-up.
Any ideas? It's quite frustrating to have that thing pop everytime on start-up when in fact all the USBs are working fine.
Many thanks in advance!!! I have attached a screen shot if it helps.

Try resetting you BIOS to defaults, plus update your Intel INF.
-
Properties on device, details, property --> Hardware Ids. You can find out the pci\ven info - something like PCI\VEN_xxxx&DEV_xxxx
Google that and most probably you will find out what device is. -
@ Chasity: My BIOS is default; and I have updated my Intel INF Driver from the Asus site as i previously mentioned.
@ manu72: I've tried looking at that before, all it shows is "USB\UNKNOWN"
Please help!!!
EDIT: I've also updated my INF Driver from the site mentioned in this thread but still no luck: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...rivers-everything-you-need-fresh-install.html
EDIT 2: After updating the INF Driver and the USB 3.0 Driver from the above thread, the popup no longer occurs upon startup. The Unknown Device however, still remains in the Device Manager, and cannot be permanently disabled/uninstalled (ie. reappears after reboot).Attached Files:

Camera driver?

Um... i cant find any on the Asus site or anywhere else. Plus, this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...rivers-everything-you-need-fresh-install.html says: "3.12. Webcam
The webcam has no drivers. It should work anyway with Windows 7. You can use the Asus LifeFrame software with it if you like (detailed below)." -

Good point!
Though, are u guys sure that G53SW should have webcam driver???
That thread clearly says there are no webcam drivers for the G73SW/53SW.
Both of u use the J versions so... -
There's no harm in trying it, it probably should recognize it without the drivers but there are always exceptions.

Oh, and an additonal screenshot if it helps.
Does the Microsoft being the driver provider and the version number look familiar to any of ur devices?Attached Files:
