The screws are integrated on the heatsink in the original post.

Had to play around depending on the size needed for the headsink and the thread of the underplate you will be using. Had to modify the backplate with new nuts. See what you have and what will fit? you can remove the e-cips to take off the screws from the heatsink

Anybody tried clevo 8970? I know there is an issue with HM55 chipset but maybe (is a lot easier to get) . Second question is what about MSI 7970 card, anyone tried it?

Hi all... I realize this is an old thread, but I'm hoping the OP will pick this up.

I have a G73JH-A1 that won't POST, and on the first page of this thread, the OP mentioned that if the video card's eeprom gets corrupted the machine won't POST. With mine, however, I can't even access the mobo's BIOS... screen stays dark and dead. Hooking it up to an external monitor still shows a black screen (hooked it up to the wife's laptop and it works fine.) So, before I start slinging cash at this thing, I'd like to be sure just which board is at fault here. Thanks in advance for any help!

I was thinking of doing this but the gpus are hard to come by.

The prices on ebay are ridiculous too , +200USD. Uh, no thanks.

I have Asus G73JH and i upgraded my GPU to HD 7970
    1. I used ebay adapter V8 that plugs in the wifi port
    2. The gpu is Saphire sapphire dual-x 7970 ( it doestn work with other gpus) (asus r9 280x / Gigabyte 1060) dont work
    3. Main monitor doesnt work, use external one
    4. Gpu runs at 100% no bottleneck
    5. Vbios is updated but i dont know if that means something
    cost : 30 $ adapter 90 $ gpu 35 $ power supply
have a nice day my friends

forget it man. Even if it was possible you will not gain much. I have a workstation laptop with quadro p3200 (essentially down-clocked 1070m)..and i7-8850h cpu..even with liquid metal the cpu hits 100oC with full fan speed in PUBG and it drops any overclock (i have it set to 60W pl1 limit, and 50W is standard) will drop it every match. Thus the gpu can't reach 100% load. And this is all 2018 gen, with a fairly good cooling system.
