Nope you are unable to change the power drawn by the QM models only the XM models are unlockable to do such things. However the I7 works in a way that you need not underclock the voltage it will draw the right amount of power needed depending on the load and the clocks it is running at. You can adjust the load/clocks by changing the performance settings in Throttlestop or Power4Gear.

All explained in my post here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...m/605765-g73-53-jh-jw-overclocking-guide.html

Is throttlestop only for the XM models or will that guide work for the QM?

Throttlestop will work for both however the ability to change the Turbo Power and Turbo limit ratios is locked on a QM model.

You can still setup profiles for the CPU to function at lower clocks etc using the clock modulation/multi's. However the only way to overclock a QM model is to use SetFSB.

I really doubt you get much more battery life underclocking the cpu, the gpu is what drains a lot of power, with ruckenmarks vbios I get almost 3 hours.
