I have been working on this problem for a while with no success. My headphone jack wont work, and I've done so much forum reading and forcedisableJD toggling and driver and bios swapping it's making me sick. Details below. Is anybody capable of solving this???

    ASUS G50VT-X1
    Windows Vista 64
Bios: just swapped to 209 (no difference)
    Realtek Audio version: 6.0.1.6449 (8/30/2011)

    Just to reiterate:
Setting ForceDisableJD to 00, 01, or FF (with a restart) makes NO DIFFERENCE. Sound continues to play OUT OF THE SPEAKERS no matter what (this is with "control panel > sound" with speakers set as default. with realtek digital output set as default, sound will not play at all).

I have tried 4 versions of realtek (no third party software yet - suggestions?). I've tried bios 205 and 209. I've tried poking around in my headphone jack. No matter what, it never recognizes that i have headphones plugged in.

    I'll try anything... Suggestions anyone?

Hate to suggest the obvious stuff but it sounds like you've tried basically all you can. Try plugging the headphones into one of the other ports. Possibly you're plugging it into the SPDIF out instead of headphone out. Try plugging in different headphones/speakers, maybe the headphones are broke.
Try to reinstall the original drivers that were included with the disc, if you dont have those anymore get them directly from Asus. You shouldnt need to change the ForceDisableJD settings, it should just do it. If nothing works you might just have a dead headphone plug :(

If those dont work give Asus tech support a buzz, you wont end up worse then you are.

I'm just really wondering why changing the forcedisablejd setting has no effect. It seems like this is totally against how the drivers work. Am i wrong in this?

    anybody else have some input?

I have tried 3 sets of headphones: nice sennheisers, some basic skullcandy's, and apple ones. I have tried all ports.

Am i right to have speakers set as default?
