Hi all! Just bought the G73SW-BST6 and love the speed, hate the (fairly) low resolution screen. Since the bst8 has a 1080 res. screen, I wonder if it's possible to upgrade the resolution of the G73SW-BST6 to 1080? Or higher?

    Thanks!

You will need to buy a 1080p LCD panel and swap your current one for it but yep it's possible.

Thanks tijo, I've read in places that here might be some other hardware problems when you install a higher resolution screen on a laptop. The screen swap itself seems easy.

If you can buy from Amazon, getting the XA1 is far better deal at the same price after Best Buy's tax.

XA1 has the 1920x1080 lcd, and it doesnt have the gimped 1gig/128bit bus GTX460m, and ofc you get Bluetooth. All for $1400 + free shipping, so while I don't want to make you feel bad for purchasing the BST6.

If possible, since you already want a better panel, certainly just return it and buy from amazon.

@dkillone, thanks for the reply. I got the machine from BB, and I don't really want to take it back for refund as I lose re-stocking fee, etc. Replacing the screen dosen't look too difficult (we got some great IT guys at work, but I think I can do it). I use it mostly for photos, not gaming so I don't mind the GTX460m. I just don't want to burn anything up when I change screens from the higher power demands.

I thought BB removed restocking fees.
