    Hi,

In France Asus or any reseller doesn't sell a custom notebook.
So I plan to buy a cheap G73JW and to upgrade it. I won't speak about warranty here.

The G73JW-TY103V come with a 1600 x 900 screen, and that's exactly I do want, no need nor want a full HD.

The processor is an INTEL Core i5-460M @ 2,53 Ghz, so I should replace it by some more powerfull I7.

    The RAM is only 4Mb (2 x 2Gb) DDR3 (1066 Mhz), I should replace it by 4 x 2Gb DDR3 1333MHz, or perhaps 4 x 4Gb but it needs more money.
Is it possible ? Will it work ? Even 16Gb?

The HDD is one 640Gb@5400rpm, I should replace it by one 120Gb SSD + one 500Gb@7200rpm HDD.

What do you think of that ?
    Thanks alot.

Stick with the i5, the performance benefit of upgrading isn't particularly great at the moment. You've got higher clock speeds, and few things are quad core optimized, so ...

    Thanks,
In fact, I've just found pretty close to me a used G73JW almost as new, and I bought it .
    It comes with I7-740, 8Gb Ram, 2 x 500gb HDD @5400 rpm :( , Full HD 1920 x 1080 :( , BR reader, price is about 800Euros under a new one.
    I don't know if I'll upgrade the 1st HDD to a 7200rpm or to a SSD.

Upgrade it to a SSD. You will see huge benefits. The second HDD can stay 5400rpm, you don't need faster for storage.
