Right so it's one problem after another. I was downloading the Catalyst Suite from ATI website, when all of a sudden my computer just turned to a blue screen informing me that it was shutting down to protect my computer. On startup, the screen resolution was HUGE. Now, the highest i can make it is 1152 by 864, not my usual resolution! Not only that, but the options to Hibernate AND SLeep the computer are unavailable. They are there, but i cannot click on them. The mouse is flickery and the laptop seems to be working extra hard. ANy suggestions? Feels like the whole thing is knackered.

Even better, i can't open any games as they're all getting errors :(

Try system restore to before you installed the Catalyst Suite
Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore

Go to device manager and see if you are missing drivers.

It sounds like you may be missing at least the catalyst drivers and possibly more.

sounds like the same thing that happened to me when i tried to update to Catalyst 11.8. but when i updated to 11.9 i first uninstalled everything ATI from the add/remove programs in the control panel, then used driver sweeper, and then installed 1.9 and it seems to be working fine with the right resolution i want.
