    Will try and download it

Some info from the release notes

•The Release 275 beta driver v275.27 can cause significant performance drop in The Witcher 2. This issue has been resolved in v275.33 drivers. Please read this FAQ for more information on this issue.
•Increases performance for GeForce 400 Series and 500 Series GPUs in several PC games vs. v270.61 WHQL drivers. The following are some examples of improvements measured on Windows 7. Results will vary depending on your GPU and system configuration:
    GeForce GTX 580:
    ◦Up to 4% in Crysis 2
◦Up to 5% in Civilization V with SLI
    ◦Up to 9% in Portal 2
◦Up to 13% in Bulletstorm with Antialiasing enabled
◦Up to 15% in Batman: Arkham Asylum with PhysX High
    GeForce GTX 560:
    ◦Up to 6% in Crysis 2
    ◦Up to 8% in Portal 2
◦Up to 14% in Batman: Arkham Asylum with PhysX High
◦Up to 15% in Bulletstorm with Antialiasing enabled
•Increases performance by up to 12% for dual-core CPUs in CPU-limited cases.

    Official 270 Drivers

    13950 max 76 degrees

    Beta 275.27 Drivers

    14057 max 73 degrees

These were my 3Dmark06 results without overclocking.

Will post new resutls here soon.

    3DMark06 results

    Official 270.xx driver 13950
    Beta 275.27 driver 14057
    Official 275.33 driver 13693

Seems like a dissapointment, but need to see ingame performance as well.

First I will overclock and run 3Dmark once more.

    Overclocked @ 810/1375

score with the 275.33 driver is 14813

Also would I have been better of first removing the older driver and than install the latest driver?

Or just installing the new driver will do?

Bad Company 2 runs smoother and giving me more Frames with the latest drivers.

    I just downloaded 3Dmark11 and deleted 3Dmark06

I will now test the GPU with the factory and overclocked settings and also turn on the program that tells me the GPU tempreature.

I totally forgot to do so before.

    I will post back.

    Asus g73-sw

    3Dmark11 Basic Edition

275.33 drivers with factory clock = p1963 (isnt it too low? the entire time i got FPS around 10 as if I had a very very old graphics card. Anyway, i am new to 3Dmark11 so perhaps thats normal)... GPU was 69 degrees maximum.

    275.33 drivers with 810/1375 clocks = p2272... GPU was 73 degrees maximum.

Going with the 810/1375 cloks of course. But how are these numbers guys. What do you think?

    Ah great than.

You should give this driver a go.

I had few issues with Black Ops and I did not have any with this driver. (basically when i was firing at someone in MP and when that someone was also shooting at me my FPS would drop from 80 to 20. I dont have it anymore.

Also Bad Company 2 runs much smoother.

    yeah sure anytime :)

I love it when a new nvidia driver is out.

Although I admit that i somehow magically expect that a driver transformes my GPU to a higher one, i am still quite happy with their progres.

No performance improvement in AC2. Its still good but at FULL hd res in heavy populated areas the frame drops to 20s. Otherwise its a solid 40+

    Great thanks.

How was it compared to the previous driver? do you remember your number?

Hitting my head to walls that I did not pick up the 3D model. I can connect to a 3D tv with 3dtv play but its not as good.
Perhaps will get a g74 next year. Who knows.

Sorry, I only used FurMark this time. I wanted to test the stability of my OC. Didn't run it for more than 5 minutes though since I know FurMark stresses the GPU far beyond any other game. Highest temp I got was 85 C. But when playing Crysis 2 on max settings, I never even reach 70 C.

I will give those settings a go,but I can not edit my memory clock past 1500. Weird.

The thing i hate is that i need to play on 720p. I have a 8 series 40 inch samsung, and although the depth is quite ok, i really dont like playing games in 720p. Also the colors become not so vivid. I really like the asus's FULL HD screens, therefor I usually game on my laptop, rarely go connect it to my 3D tv.

Ahh i see. Didnt know that. 1080p in 60 fps would be too much for any laptop to handle I believe. and 24 fps is unplayable in most games.

Anyway will play BC2 online in 3D now :)

as far as i know 1080p@30+ fps is too much for HDMI or DVI.
    movies are in 1080@24fps

this WHQL is mostly a bugfix of 275.27, so no additional performace boosts. Next set will be a performance set.

So the betas are performance sets and WHQLs are just bug fixes of betas than?

    I can understand.

Also do you know when the next one will arrive?

You might head over to the acer's website and look to see if you can download an nvidia driver for that specific laptop from there. At least then, if it works, you'll know that the card is fine. If the gt540m isn't in the supported devices list, then the update won't work.

well the card is fine i think, just that the laptop does not use that 540m as default but the intel HD graphic instead. I dont know if this is a problem or it is supposed to be like that :(

Edit: @Nakano2k1: so basically i cant use this driver ? :(

It doesn't look like this version of the driver is compatible. I would stick with the graphics drivers on the Acer website for now, as recommended before.

Performance or not, it performs better than previous whql driver. :)
For example it raised the 3D Mark 11 from 1720 to 1860

Any reason not to use drivers from nVidia's site on my 3DE model? I have been using Asus's latest 276.54 drivers to make sure the 3D emitter functions properly.

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't, G73SW-3DE was added into the 3D vision support since 270.51 Beta, 275.33 is like the 5th Driver after 270.51 beta.

Why ASUS still holds on to a much previous version in their website is beyond me though.

I would expect their webpage to have at least a link to download the latest WHQL drivers from nvidia.

I didn't really notice any difference between 270.61 whql and 275.33 whql in reguards to Witcher 2. They both have the 3d vision driver..

Needless to say, I've finished Witcher 2 in my G73SW (normal difficulty).. So when is Witcher 3?..

    ..some pics.

I was forced to buy a gaming laptop after getting displaced from my condo which got flooded along with other owners on the same floor (repair bill by insurance, my motel stay also by my insurance)..

    Hey bro

In which settings did u finish withcer 2?

and what was your average FPS?

Sorry to hear about your condo by the way. Hope you will be back in no time.

I LOVE my gaming laptop but might also build a gaming desktop in the near future.

Sold my PS3, as i just noticed how inferior consoles are in terms of graphcis and control.

You might want to use Fraps to monitor the difference of FPS. I still haven't compared it myself on Witcher 2 between 270.61 and 275.33.

NVIDIA releases their new drivers too often, it'd mean that ASUS will have to update the driver page at a montly frequency. So, normally people look for their GTX 460M driver on NVIDIA and not ASUS.

so the driver in Asus's page is actually the exactly the same driver that was released ny Nvidia than right?

Not some NVIDIA driver modified by Asus I assume.

Not sure who wrote it, I think it was writen for the G53/G73 but in an early stage, it's probably a modified version of 259/260 series.

I've never used a fps software like the 3d mark11.. I'm actually curious, but I can't seem to download the free version.

My setting started with medium according to witcher 2's auto detect. Then I disabled everything leaving medium decals, texture downscaling(none or low), texture memory size (small), 1920x1080 nr.

High spec and ultra spec shows detail, but the color richness is the same as with medium so it's still nice in the eyes. The glossy 17.3" screen makes it look really rich. The pics were taken from a 5 MP digicam..

No overclocking was done to the cpu and gpu. It's very, very playable with these settings 'cause I'm just doing all the boss fights over and over from save files and just enjoying the fight fundamentals. I found the game fairly easy now with proper levelling abilities and fast dodging. I did find some of the boss fights almost impossible to beat the first few times, 'till I went back in the game and redistribute Geralt's abilities.

other pics (with no flash and with),

Heaven Benchmark 2.1: 17 fps (438points)on old drivers vs 18 fps (452 points) on new

    3dmark2011: 1810 on old vs 1960 on new : )

Good to know. I read somewhere a while ago that it is sometimes better to use manufacturer video drivers as they mod and/or test them for the specific hardware combinations. Now that nVidia includes the ASUS 3D emitter in the driver it sounds like either should work fine.

I can't actually update the driver on my G73SW, and this after going back to factory settings... do I need a .inf file or something? It says I don't have the hardware...

By the way the witcher 2 is unplayable even on low, and it's a real GPU barbecue at over 95°. Did I get a bad computer? Should I return it? What do you guys think?

Make sure the driver you downloaded is for GTX 460 M, there's no need to mod the inf file if you downloaded the correct one. And your temperature is abnormal. You can take cleaning the fan or repasting the thermal paste on the GPU into consideration.
