    Machine: G73JH
    OS: Windows 7 Professional
    Video drivers: 8.791.0.0 from ATI.
    Video bios: BR35992.001
    Mother Board bios: 211

World of warcraft use to run fine. How's it's down to 30 FPS and hick ups. I updated to the new drives from ATI/AMD. Nothing seems to resolve this issue. This machine is not even a week old.

Do you have any suggestions? It has run good up till this point.

Yeah it might be the Cataclysm patch downloading in the background. You can now enter the game with only something like 0.5/15gb downloaded, but it's not practical.

Try other games and benchmarks. Could be a virus or some other program...check if there's anything eating up the processor

Make sure "Reduce Input Lag" is unchecked and also make sure your shadows aren't on Ultra, High is good enough.

Reduce Input Lag is a major FPS loss so keep it off unless you have a high powered Desktop.

I had to install the new Realtec drivers but now the EAX stuff doesn't work. Ventrilo doesn't like to direct sound stuff right now. I gotta figure out how to fix that. Once I upgraded realtec I went back to 60 fps

Forgive me if I don't believe you. No one gets 60fps in Dalaran (unless the server is empty).

Same here, even my desktop GTX480 usually on the high 40s on peak hours, and my g73 usually in 30s on dalaran, outside its easier to cap.

Umm Dalaran should be a ghost town now.. No more portals ... hahahah...

SUcks to loos FPS, I try not to update unless there is an issues or a proven by other benifit....

With Windows 7, I now make a restore point before each driver update , so if this happens you can revert it back fast...

I forgot to add in a few things Sorry...

Go to your Wow folder and use the repair feature as well.
I might find other issues and fix them as well. I do this about once every 3 months.

Believe it or not I'm in michigan and I play between 7am and noon and I hit a solid 60 fps in Dal. My avg. ping is 125ms. I keep a clean OS and don't run addons.

After a lengthy hiatus from WoW, I will be making a return around Dec 18 or so for CAT. I would like to start back up at launch but I find it to be an awful time for Final exams for my program. So ill hold off till then.

I will however get it installed and do all the necessary updates and patches. Is there a way to set where the patches are downloaded to? I dont want that stuff stored on the SSD.

Also what is a total install right now with CAT installed GB wise? I left the game when it was around 22GB I believe.

Thanks guys... looking forward to getting back into WoW!

Current wow size folder without addons and pre-Cat install 29.1 GB, Cat looks to be a 17 GB expansion for a total of 46.1 GB.

My install till 4.01 is 21.8gb, i would assume post catclysm is going to be around 27-30gb i doubt its going to go much higher than that.

Ok, so the other night I started getting artifacting on my second monitor. I thought it was a graphics glitch. Come to find out the video card is definitely going bad. It's spread to both screens now. So my laptop after 4 days has gone bad. Off to best buy I go.

In Dal on Blackhand I usually get 60fps standing still. Depending on where I go it can drop to 49fps but I was rocking a whole 30fps dropping to 15fps and if I left Dal it stayed the same. It was hiccuping pretty bad as well. When I first purchased this laptop I could log into the game and it would perform like nothing I had seen in a laptop before. Very fluid and ran flawlessly. I am really disappointed with the burn out already. The fans use to pick up and get loud every so often. It's no longer doing so. I'm not sure what has gone wrong.
