    Hi,

    I believe I have read every thread I could find on this site and other sites regarding the proper method of a complete clean install of Windows 7/64 bit on a G2s-B2. I've just completed the initial steps of a clean install of WINDOWS 7x64 bit on my G2S-B2 and am now at the point of installing the drivers but due to the many variations of installation methods I have read about, plus the fact that there are newer drivers available that haven't been written about by anyone, I'm now hesitant as to how to proceed. I'm hoping someone will provide me some guidance.

    I'm pretty sure I have the correct driver install order starting with the chipset update, but;

    1-Do I start off by installing the outdated chipset and Vista 64 bit drivers on my ASUS disk then update the drivers with the latest Windows7 version drivers one at a time, or do I install the very latest version drivers from the very beginning?

    2-Is that also true for the Nvidia video driver, as well?

    and lastly, I hope;

    3-With all the reading I have done I can't remember any mention of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager or is it Intel Rapid Storage Manager or is it both? I don't know whether I need either or both and how or when to install it/them.

    My thanks in advance for your help. VANMAN

    From experience, the order of driver installation doesn't really matter. Personally, I'd start with the chipset, GPU, I/O ports, and all the necessary Asus driver/utilities. I'd go with the latest drivers and skip the drivers from the Asus driver disk as those are probably out of date. If you encounter any problems, you can always use the disk as back up.

    The Intel Storage Manager is for RAID configurations. I don't quite remember if the G2S has a dual HDD config, but if not, then you'd probably won't need this.

    Hi David, Thanks for your input.

    Part of my confusion is that some of the threads I've followed specify that the order of driver installation is important I expect that you are correct. Also causing further confusion is that the ASUS driver dvd contains several drivers that are not for my pc such as IR, TV, and TV REMOTE and possibly several others.

    I hate to admit it but I'm afraid of not installing the the correct driver and the problems that might occur.

    Also noted is the warning on the NVIDIA driver site to use the pc manufacturers driver because it was written specifically for my pc. So I guess I'll try the NVIDIA and hope for the best.

    Thanks again David
