So my wife spilled "a glass of soda" on the keyboard. I'm not certain what happened next but now it will not turn on at all or display any lights that show charging/battery in or anything.

Any idea on how much asus would charge to fix (assuming MB is dead)? Or any other thoughts?

I guess you Have listed your system in marketplace, is it?
'btw: I bet the mobo can be dead, and vga sometimes, but less chances for processor.

Initially if it has only just happened you need to dry it out because any water which is on the motherboard or in any connection is causing a short will not allow the laptop to turn on.

When I dropped coke all over my old laptop I dried it out best I could and then stuck it in the airing cupboard or boiler room whichever you have if it differs from the UK and let the warm air dry it out and evaporate the water from within it. Might take a few days mind.

The only other option is to disassemble and take out all sections of the hadware and dry them all individually.

If it was turned on when this happened there is more chance of a short or surge causing damage to the hardware either way its worth drying it out first and seeing before considering an RMA or claim.

Hey , I guess all parts inside mite have a chance broken, because soon after you spilled water over it , I guess you have tried to turn it on is it?
if I were you, at that time I would have removed the charger and unplugged the battery and soon disassemble and remove the small cmos battery because even a small thing can cause big probs, only option left to you is RMA.

Yeah I did post it FS...

I know what to do when water is spilled on electronics....not my wife though. She said she put it upside down and turned it off. But she doesn't remember because she was in panic mode.

I'll probably just send it back and see what the bill is, then decide what to do.
